To be honest, Quill has not done anything more romantic than giving her that necklace. (Avoiding making out is not very romantic—-withholding basic description of one’s New York friend even less so.)

Bern has been right, before…but with something like this, it would take more than just a suspicion. You need to show that there is something substantive to it all, or else a person will “doubt your doubts”….it’s one thing to be right… but it’s another to go about it all wrong …. – And the way that Bern is talking, you’d think this play should be starring Dennis “Leery”, and will be scored by the “Dubious” Brothers…if she’s not careful, the whole event could be wrecked.. – If only Bern could apply some of that wariness in her own “dorm dealings”…

There are glass half full and glass half empty people and then there is Bernice, glass empty.

This is very out of character of Bernice.

Had a new boss, everyone loved him. I heard he had gotten some award for kissing up. I tried warning everyone but they would NOT listen. He was the biggest bastard I’ve ever had as a boss as it turned out. Others hated him worse than I because they were taken unawares even though I tried to warn them.

Been thinking about it, if you were Quill, how would you have described Pru?

Damn Greg, all the dramatic tension!! Pru is bad or good, damaging to our girl, or not? Time will tell, but my vote is no she is basically cool, and a new type of person they (the Luannverse kids as they grow in the world) they meet as they move through life. I could be wrong, but I think your history means you telegraph if a character is going to be bad news or not. I don’t see any Marconi here.

Don’t have any idea what is happening, I’m just along for the ride. Greg never does the expected.

During the holidays, I take a little time to reread a few favorite books. One that I looked at briefly earlier today is called “The Paris Wife”, and is about the woman who was Hemingway’s first wife. Her name was Hadley, and she moved to Paris with Hemingway after their marriage, when he was an unknown writer and they were living on basically nothing.

The interesting thing is that the ‘second wife’, Pauline, came into the picture and acted very much like a kind friend to Hadley, all while she was getting her hooks into Hemingway. She basically had their wedding planned while he was still living with Hadley (and their son.) And all of Hemingway’s friends really liked Pauline, because she seemed so much more like him (and part of the writing world), where Hadley wasn’t.

Doesn’t this sound like Luann’s situation, somewhat?

Several have commented that Bernice is acting out of character in this week’s strips. She has been Luann’s best friend from the very beginning and that her snarky retorts over the years to Luann are the kind that only a best friend can get away with saying.

The point is that they are best friends and thus Bernice can’t help but defend Luann against what she is perceiving as a threat to her best friend’s relationship with Quill.

And I also think the whole business with Bernice becoming a dorm RA was a prelude to give her enough backbone to be able to stand up to Pru now.

There’s my take. Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

Beware the Ides of Pru.

Up to now, Pru is a charming winner, a great new character. That is why I have an uneasy feeling that some unexpected dramatic reversal is coming, somewhere down the way….

Hmm…can’t help but wonder if Quill gave Pru the necklace she’s wearing, too. Hopefully it’s not a boomerang.

@ ImplausibleA flesh-toned, V-neck undershirt? Maybe. But it could also be a necklace. Brdshtt posted on the necklace as well in the 11/19 Comments. If it is a necklace, and Quill did give it to Pru, then that revelation could make for a segue to LuAnn and his breaking and his return to NYC to pursue his career, and to pursue Pru. Or it could be just the neckline of an undershirt and Mr. Evans has a different storyline in store. :-)
