I think the “taking offense” virus hits everyone equally, conservative OR liberal…they can ALL become jacka**es!
Stupid almost 9 years ago
this is the kind of lunacy we put up with on the left. On the right they get Michelle Bachman. We win, sort of.

I’m offended, that you are offended ma’am. =The one thing that is consistent with some of these comments, conservatives really have no idea what a liberal thinker is. Much is due to being force fed a bizarre interpretation that any thinking or reasonable person could never accept, and yet they do. It is a truly strange thing.

Taking offence is a choice. It is like stabbing yourself and blaming someone else. It allows other people to control you, because you display a weakness. They can press your button and you behave in a predictable way.

I think it’s possible for both liberals and conservatives to find the petty slights of the hypersensitive to be ridiculous.

Many conservatives (see Fox News) have fully embraced the concepts of “I’m offended” and “I’m the victim here”. So the behavior is not “liberal” or “conservative”, just the details.

I’m offended by the comments on here and demand that you fire the football coach to make my life less stressful. Now get out of my safe place or I will call some muscle to remove you.

“Surprising strip for a lib like Miller given such behavior is a liberal hallmark.”
It only seems that way because Conservatives are generally so offensive……….

EXCUSE ME !
I think trying to cast today’s strip into a political pool plays to its point ( mixed metaphors, aside ), which many of you are missing.
Ignorance, Intolerance, Belligerence, Hyper-Sensitivity, Inability to Understand Other’s Ideas, etc. etc. are not the exclusive property of any single political or philosophical point of view. They are part of our fallible human make up.
Wiley, like the little boy in The Emperor’s New Clothesis merely, in a humorous manner, pointing out the obvious, and turning the satiric mirror of truth on all of us !

Yes Eddie, FB can be a boggle to da mind. But to have an aggressive demand, ‘what’? is crazy. If reading minds, it is intrusive, or least awful silly. Or merely some very lonely paranoid we cannot humor, have eye contact. As Flo sex, oh deah. . .

All of you responding to ed are wasting your time; she just drops a nonsense comment and then goes off to do it elsewhere. Best not to feed the trolls.

There are hundreds of cultures in this country and thousands of sub cultures, and I am not responsible for their “delicate” feelings. So if I offend someone accidentally I’m NOT sorry. (and I don’t do it on purpose)

The best answer I’ve found to the ‘I am offended’ bit is…GOOD! …Leaves them speechless.

I used to think I was a liberal, but after reading Lawrence Goodwin’s “Democratic Promise”, I find I am a populist. Unfortunately, the corporate media has made sure few know what populism is, yet it is the most easily defined: take the Cleburne and Ocala Demands plus the Omaha Platform, and update them (direct election of senators to direct election of president, votes for women to equal rights for women, etc.). And I am offended that the corporate media has defined it as any demigog appealing to popular prejudice.

Presuming that you don’t remove the N and replace it with the apostrophe, of course.Worship of banality is a very common practice among humans. It always has been.It is very common among humans to put aside all the complications of reality and view the world in the clear and pristine logic of their own minds, arranging it all so it makes perfect sense, and then attempting to implement their fully thought out ideals in the real world. It is not the objective reality thwarting their achievement of the desired perfection, though. It is the idiotic ideologies, or idiologies of their rivals, blocking and obstructing The Dream.

A couple of folks are getting the right idea: all typed communication is too impersonal to be sure of the feelings or spirit of the typer. In the absence of full understanding of those feelings or intents, the reader often brings their own feelings to the matter…to everyone’s surprise.

There seems to be a number of people posting here who denigrate people they define as liberal. Here is the definition of the word. Kindly explain to me why you are so afraid of people described as such:
liberal |ˈlib(ə)rəl|adjective
1 open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
• favorable to or respectful of individual rights and freedoms.

Night-Gaunt49You insist on letting the corporate media usurp the dictionary for their corporate purposes. If you can’t get Goodwin on Interlibrary loan, at least get the tripod on which populism rests. We have too much kleptarchy as it is.
