Okay, I was wrong again. Whether our waitress and this restaurant is a ditto illusion or not, she reacts to our trio the same way any normal person would react to a trio of anthropomorphic animals sitting at a restaurant table. âA carafe of country gravyâ? Is it my imagination or is Kirbee REALLY hungry?
Irving is probably safely tucked under Chicâs shirt. The waitress seems to regard the trio as human, though sheâs definitely responding to what theyâre saying. âCarafe of country gravy? Oooookay.â If Irving showed up, that might be a different matter. Heâs a bug in both realities, and the waitress probably wouldnât be too keen on having a bug in the restaurant. Health codes and all that.
Ditto illusions with full stereo sound. Either the ship has a great speaker system, or the dittos here are much more sophisticated after the upgrades. Keep in mind that the original trap was an illusion of a table of food in an otherwise empty room with controllable gravity, hiding a portal entrance. Conclusion, someone or something saw them coming and is just messing with them. And, itâs actively working to keep them isolated from Holly. With luck, Holly is currently in the medical bay undergoing a full once-over by a trained whatever.I do have to ask whether the glasses of water at the deck house entrance was a calculated move to provoke Holly into getting separated from the rest of the group.
Actually they donât look much different. Wally has folded his ears back and Chicâs beak doesnât show and Kirbee looks kinda like a long faced woman.Looks like A snapshot of a family traveling, Which they are.
Chicâs not staring at the waitress. Heâs staring at the menu. Maybe heâs not used to seeing more than one item on one.Irving should probably stay hidden so no one calls for a health inspector.
Youâll see a lot odder things in the cafe this weekend in San Jose! Gotta remember, too, that Kirbeeâs been working hard, and has a tail to grow back. Must be practically starving. Wonder if sheâs planning to guzzle that gravyâŠ
I love Kirbeeâs sang-froid. In a world that is mostly baffling to her, nothing beyond that is strange and the small things are comfortably within her grasp. It reminds me of a scene in Asterix, where Asterix planted a magic acorn. A fully-grown oak tree erupted within seconds. Obelix was completely unfazed. Asterix asked: âD-didnât you see how fast it grew?â Obelisk replied: âWell, Iâve never seen an oak tree grow before, so I wouldnât know.â
Is a âhusky farmhand specialâ something that appears in our own world, or is it a menu item Aaron Neathery invented. It sounds like a strange name. At first I thought it was a typo, and it should have been âhungry farmhand specialâ. Iâve never seen it in Australia. Is it an American thing?
âWhatâs wrong, Chic?ââThere are people on this menuâŠââWhatâŠ?ââHot dogs. Chickens. Husky farmhandsâŠââThose are just cute names. Theyâre not really people.ââOh. Whatâs âsoylent greenâ?ââ⊠Check, please!â
For what its worth, I found three different definitions of Husky.A breed of sled dog that was used in the north.(of a voice or utterance) sounding low-pitched and slightly hoarse.strong; hefty. To me this suggests more of a stocky burly farmhand than a bodybuilder. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=husky+definition

Foxyjosh about 9 years ago
Waitress: âAnd how would you like your eggs?âKirbee: death glare âThemâs fightinâ words missy.â
Robert Nowall Premium Member about 9 years ago
So are they ordering breakfast, lunch, or dinner? Or is it one of those places that serves everything twenty-four hours a day?
Foxyjosh about 9 years ago

So, they must look normal to the waitress.

Hey, has Chic ever seen a human before? He looks kinda scared here.

I wonder if the waitress sees them in their human forms?
