I think that is a political statement in itself.

After the last year, I’ve come to the conclusion that all political candidates should have to pass:IQ tests, a criminal background check, random drug tests, the college SATs to make sure they know how the US government works, where foreign countries are, and high school science. And finally, pass an exam by psychiatrists to determine if they are as insane as they seem.

So many places are now out to follow her advice after THIS endless round of idiocy!

And debates should be a college style debate, One person posits an idea, then the other offers a rebuttal to the ideas expressed, a response from the first person, then a response from the other person….Most candidates wouldn’t be able to do it because all they have is talking points…

Wow, can we try that? One simple rule. No stupid talk in the comments.

Should the same rule be applied to this strip, I would be quite content.

Used to be said that any one who voluntarily runs for any elective office, and especially the presidency, is not mentally competent to hold the job. Certainly seems true this election cycle.

Here’s a sure fire test to see if someone is saying something stupid: Is their mouth open and words coming out?

No religious talk, no talk about sports, no platitudes about the weather or your families or…Or just get used to the fact that people are going to talk about what they want and stop trying to control it.

If you banned religion and politics from this comment section , there’d be damn few contributors !

A bunch of us older folks meet for discussion groups on Wednesdaysl. The only rule is, you can’t talk about your health or your grandchildren. So, we talk about politics and religion. And movies.

I want to see the candidates’ scores in a simulation game where they actually run the economy and military of a country, and do diplomacy. There are several such games on the internet, as there used to be in play-by-mail gaming.

Anyone who wants to take the Oath of Office, should have to prove he/she KNOWS the Constitution he/she would have to swear to “honor and defend”!!

No political talk = no democracy —> authoritarian rule.The problem is the assault on government since Reagan, the “Wrecking Crew” who tried – and largely succeeded – in making government inefficient and wasteful so it could be eliminated. Result: Happy Oligarchy!

LinguistBack in my day (late 1940s), the average high school student could pass it. Of course, we still had a subject back in junior high called Civics. But candidates today aren’t high school students, but mostly out of school and a plurality bar-admitted lawyers, and still couldn’t pass citizenship..pointspreadI see you like icing on your cake! Publishing their answers would require the correct one to be included, as the electorate is not going to do as well as that poor sample.

Not discussing politics with those who disagree with us is what has brought to the current mess we are in. Everyone lives in a bubble
