Gunther is quite cool to the idea that he and Luann have a married future together.

I’m sorry but that’s flaky of Luann. To have Gunther make your dress and then him not getting invited? You know it’s your brother’s wedding and you know Toni doesn’t really know Gunther or Bernie. Maybe Luann should have brought her dress instead of having Gunther do it. And this is why I don’t like Luann, it feels like she’s using Gunther. And now Greg and Karen will figure out some way to invite Gunther and Bernie. I’ll be so glad when this arc is over with.

Ummm, Luann? Since you’re single, Gunther could simply be your guest to the wedding…

Why is this so ridiculous. It’s not that hard, most people get a +1 for a wedding, just take Gunther as your dumb date. Bernice probably doesn’t want to see two random people she doesn’t care about get married.

You can still see the dress in a wedding, Gunther. Just ask Luann to bring the photos to you after the ceremony.

Why waste time? Skip the wedding, and go right to the honeymoon.

Gunther was disappointed, but understanding. Luann, on the other hand, actually insulted him. I think that an “I’m sorry” along with a comforting hug would have been more appropriate.

I have a feeling this wedding is going to be way bigger than Toni & Brad planned. The Fire department, the entire staff of Kabs’ cafe//theater/lounge, almost all Luann’s friends, even Gunther’s mom as Mr. Gray’s date. And TJ will be a big part of a giant size wedding catered by him.

Is Luann the only bridesmaid? Don’t all bridesmaid wear matching dresses? Doesn’t the bride pick out the dress bridesmaids will wear? I think Luann is out of line not even asking Toni what she thinks about the dress!

Luann… is a heal!

Easy solution Gunther… the next time you go to a wedding, wear it yourself :p

As I opined earlier this week, Gunth & Tiff would make the perfect odd couple. Gunth & Bernie? Dull, dull, dull. Looks like there’s a set up in the strip for a Gunther/Quill tension re the wedding. Though I can’t believe with T.J. running the show it will be a small wedding.From Greg’s standpoint as the cartoon’s author, he can’t let a wedding go small unexploited. Can he?

How about just ASKING BRAD?Crazy idea, I know.

In the US it is not customary for those in the wedding party (bridesmaids, maids of honor, best men, groomsmen) to decide on the list of guests. While Luann’s answer to Gunther was anything but gracious, she has no authority to decide on her own that he and Bernice can come. And as far as whether she can invite him as a ‘plus one’, we don’t know if she herself got the kind of invitation that allows her to bring a date. Toni wanted a small wedding, so maybe not.

If this makes you feel that Luann is ‘using’ Gunther, and it makes you unhappy, you can easily solve that problem.

Whoa! There are alternate universes to this alternate universe? Now it’s getting complicated, because there are alternate Gregs and Karens writing alternate strips, which themselves might have alternate versions. Be fun to read them, as well as the alternate comment sites with versions of us. Alternate trolls might attack one another, and I might be making snide remarks about my own comments.

In the alternate world, Gunther could shyly ask to remove the bow on their wedding night. Very romantic!

I can’t seem to get the reply function to work on most posts today.

I keep reading here that all weddings are public events and only the receptions are private, due to the costs. But I do research for a living, and I can’t find any federal or state laws that state that weddings on privately owned property, or leased property (like that ‘Cottage 4.2’ that Toni and Brad put a deposit on), or a private lodge like a Rotary meeting hall are open to the public.

I assume this alternate universe where Luann and Gunther get married (accidentally or not) is the universe that was the original setting of this strip, when it was clear that Greg Evans wanted Gunther to win the readers’ sympathy as a suitor for Luann, but it turned out that they liked Aaron Hill better. So the strip hopped into the current universe, where Aaron is in a volcano.

Toni said they can pick their own dresses. A few strips ago, she told Prudence that and she had shown her the different designs she drew. Luann might not know the proper ways weddings are done. She just wants to do right by Toni and Brad. That’s why she’s not sure with Gunther and Bernice. Geez…..;)

Here’s what I foresee happening..

Luann is going to find herself having to choose between Gunther and Bernice but won’t chose either because it would hurt one of the two’s feelings..

She and Quill will get back together so they will go together and somehow Gunther and Bernice will find themselves going to the wedding together, either as friends or as kind of a date thing

You all do realize that the conversation today is happening MOMENTS form yesterday, and tomorrow may pick right up moments from now, where she might say, ‘seriously, why don’t I check with Brad & Toni." All of you are so sensitive about her JOKING with Gunther. "She’s so mean’ etc etc etc. HS no one hear ever busted chops with anyone? OMG!!

I think this confirms my thought that Luann and Gunther are an unlikely pairing. I like Luann’s straight up honesty regarding these probabilities. So now we can stop speculating on that. But……I still think that there needs and will be some focus on Toni’s dress and that G-man will be involved. Hopefully, we just aren’t there yet….

1I am not “feeling the love” in today’s comic. :)To me, today:1. I think Luann is being rather mean in the last frame with her alternative universe comment to Gunther. Hell, he just did virtually all of her assignment for her. I think it would have been better for her to just say, “I will ask Brad and Toni if you can be on the invite list.”2. Even though I can understand why Gunther is annoyed at Luann’s comment….. I have to say that I REALLY dislike this facial expression Gunther has when he is annoyed. He has had this same sort of expression several times. To me, it reads like a surly sort of annoyance that is the step prior to a “blowup” sort of response. I hope that eventually, Gunther develops a different facial expression to show his annoyance. What is interesting to me is how Greg can show Gunther’s annoyance in a way that is distinctly different from how Greg shows other character’s annoyance. That is quite skillful in terms of drawing… and for me, it is why I interpret Gunther’s type of annoyance differently.

Hey… by the way…. do not read my comment above as being negative about Greg or the comic…. I am expressing negatives about the way the characters are BEHAVING. Greg is a skilled expert, indeed! That he can show this sort of behavior (as well as many others) in a comic is, to me, quite an achievement.

Gotta agree with old_timey_dude. This interaction between these two… just awful. Between this nonsensical hot mess with Luann (count me in the group that thinks Luann just used Gunther), and TJ having taken over the wedding planning it just seems like a disaster waiting to happen.

I guess it’s too late to hope that Brad and Toni will ditch everybody and elope.

Yeah, Luann. Taunt Gunther with this line again. He’s got Tiffany and she is way better.

Someone will take pictures and then Gunther can see Luann wearing the dress in Toni’s wedding. I think that should suffice. This whole issue of Gunther needing to see Luann at the actual wedding seems weird. Moreover, I certainly hope he doesn’t use this for his engineering project. No reason why he can’t do something else more appropriate for the class.

The damage is done. Words can’t be taken back. Luann will not ask Gunther to be her guest because if Quill re-enters the picture, Gunther will be dumped and hurt again. The G-man should go back to Tiffany’s dorm suite and share his disappointment with her. Tiff will comfort her friend in a way that WILL put him into an alternate universe. These two lonely people are due for an explosive experience that will rock both their worlds. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” will take on a whole new meaning.

Hey folks. This is my first post here although I’m an obsessed Luann reader. I’m one of three co-hosts for the Hey Kids! Comics podcast at First Comics News and I talk about Luann a lot. In fact, last season we did a fun weekly segment for a while called “Sam Talks Luann” in which I summarized the entire week much to my co-hosts (playful) annoyance. The segment was short lived. I know it’s not her wedding, but I can’t see any reason why she couldn’t talk to her brother and ask if he could work them into the guest list.

Quill’s assessment is kind of ringing true she: Luann roped Gunther into sewing her dress for her.

I gotta say this – this is a ugly wedding dress. Luann has zero taste. She ought consult with Pru in the future for special occasion attire. Bernice has zero taste also. Tiffany would fluff Luann up too much and make her too sexy, the way she did with Bernice when she was trying to get Piro’s attention. Pru, as theater major, knows how to dress somebody. She should have let Pru design her dress.

Now…Toni? Oh boy. She is also plain kind of girl with bland taste in clothes. Please, Toni, ask someone to help you choose your dress. You will wear it only once in your lifetime so make sure it is beautiful on YOU. Most women wear white bridal dress only at their first wedding and don’t bother for their subsequent weddings because bridal dresses are expensive and not very good an investment.
