This looks more like a roast than a toast. I did mention that in yesterday’s spoiler alert, so if I plagiarized it, I plagiarized myself..

Perhaps the roast might have something to do with the fact that TJ is currently bearing a slight resemblance to Dean Martin, the king of celebrity roasts…

With all the toasts and accolades going Toni’s way, Brad has to be feeling left out. He’s gotta be thinking: “I helped fight that wildfire. I have courage.”

Boy there really are people here who have NO SENSE OF HUMOR. I have seen toasts at weddings that went a lot further in busting chops department. GEEZ!

Luann gave the typical wedding reception toast that the best man is supposed to give.

I toast Greg Evans, who came through with a fitting answer to the question of “Will Brad and Toni ever get married.” This has been my favorite story line of the strip. I’m just an old romantic I suppose.

Is TJ trying to throw shade??!! I hate shade throwers at weddings. Stay home, get a life.

I can’t remember toasts in my wedding reception but I do in many others; usually teasing or roast type toasts are quite normal, and for TJ to tease his Best Friend is not only normal, but also very sweet in a way. It is clear that he, TJ, is very pleased with this marriage. I think Luann’s toast is very reflective of how happy she is and amazed how much growth her brother has shown over the time he has been with Toni. I hope there are toasts from Nancy and Frank too. That should be interesting.

FYI – A Toastmaster’s magazine had an article about giving toasts at weddings. It said do NOT try to be funny— humor should give way to praise and encouragement at a wedding. As early commenters said, this is NOT a roast, wherein humor is mandated.

Did I miss the part where Toni decided to keep her Maiden name? Or did Luann zone out during the wether and forget Her brother got married? Congratulations Mr. and Mrs Degrot..sorry if I spelled your last name wrong.

When did TJ get the earring piercings? They look good on him!

1) Toni keeping her name is totally in keeping with her character . . . 2) TJ’s toast hearkens back to Toni’s tumultuous relationship with The Beefcake. Toni’s an incredibly strong woman! (See comment 1.)

I am going to have to check, but the wedding MIGHT be TJ’s first appearance w earrings. No one replied to my earlier post on this.

On Nov 15 there is hair looping over TJ’s ear. On Nov 22 there are three distinct dots, so earrings prior to the wedding. They look good on him.

Let’s see… who will come to Brad’s rescue in this ‘toast n’ roast’. I predict it will be Shannon.

Haha! Actually, I thought TJ’s toast was wonderfully funny! It was done in a mild, but humorous way and was gently poking fun at his friend, Brad.

At least in my neck of the woods, this is a normal type of toast given at many wedding receptions. So, it seemed perfect to me.

Some folks will, unfortunately, take such a toast to a coarse, lewd level…. which is very tacky and wrong, IMO. But, the gentle teasing TJ did…. I think it worked well!
