If Doubleup is part of Perenelle’s personal staff then she is probably connected with Bribery. If Bribery has his way, there won’t be any auction of that ‘fountain of youth’ that Perenelle possesses.
.
This is becoming complicated and very interesting.
Perenelle apparently has a very big budget, since (as Spirit notes with a whistle) she has the entire floor of a hotel where Daddy Warbucks can’t afford to rent a room.
Hasn’t Doubleup gotten away with quite a lot? He was in the Mr. Crime gang, there was his intrusion on the Scarlet Sting movie set, he kept showing up next to dead bodies during the train robbery case, and he was with the Blackhearts during the massive shootout. They may not have any murders they can pin on him, but still…
Doubleup was not charged in the siege of Ace Tower. He had a whip and dropped it when ordered to by Tracy on 8/21/15. He killed Ponytail (it was strongly implied) and Hy Pressure with his whip. He escaped during the tornado. Hy Pressure was thought to have been killed by the violent weather, as I recall. There was never any mention that foul play was suspected in his death. Doubleup caught a lucky break, lucky break.
Didn’t see an appearance by Doubleup coming. This is getting interesting! I wonder if any of the other surviving former Blackhearts are going to be involved in this?
Looking on Wikipedia at a list of fictional places named Central City, it appears that the Spirit’s was first (in 1940) – before among others the second Flash (1956) and Fantastic Four #1 (1961).
Okay, so if Perenelle can afford a whole floor of the Siam, it comes back to the fact that she must want something in particular in exchange for the elixir – but what?

Well-well that is a shock-shock!! I wonder if Mr. Bigg/Bribery is coming? He won’t like it if Tracy is there, and with a masked avenger!

… and, as usual, the Flash has no idea what’s going on in Tracy’s universe.

… can we expect undesirable #2 to be a part of The Spirit’s Rogue’s Gallery?

… as did The Fantastic Four, prior to setting up housekeeping in The Baxter Building.

I just realized that even though Doubleup says two sentences, he only repeats the last words of the second. He repeats nothing of the “Hold it!”

Fun Fact – Many years later, Stockton, CA lobbied to be the FF’s home, but had to settle for being where their experimental rocket crash-landed.

“Birthplace of The Fantastic Four” – Got a pretty good ring to it.

Has Doubleup appeared in more Mike & Joe stories than any other of their original villains?
.
I’m guessing that he has.

As “The Spirit” is renowned for his fisticuffs, might there be a fight with Doubleup in our future?
