35 years ago the girls in my lit class were oohing and ahhing over the Italian language and how beautiful it is. I made the observation that any language that ends most words in a long vowel is likely to be “beautiful”. It wasn’t a popular comment. LOL
In the human world, there are a few opera librettists whose work can be called brilliant, such as Gilbert, von Hofmannsthal, and Boito, but beautiful? Well, that’s—unusual.
(I only ever made a living as a computer programmer, but I spent over twenty years doing opera and Viennese operetta in a small professional company on the side, so I’m not a exactly a stranger in that world.)

Mandarin Chinese is based on pronunciation too. The wrong stress and lilt and you could be saying eating eyes than eating grapes.
