Caulfield: BURP! So the rest of the class would immediately forget about Deanie's little fart, that's why.
Mr. Spaetzle: Walk out of my office looking just a little chastised and we're good.
Once, when I was just a kid (maybe 7-9), I was bored out of my mind in church and let an audible squeaker go. But I then promptly turned around and looked at the people behind me. I’m still surprised lo these many years later that I was such a devious little scalawag.
Spaetzel showing a lot of class, so to speak, and getting the respect he deserves. Today’s strip is exceptional in that regard. Also by the looks of things, maybe Deanie needs to see a specialist. She seems to be in considerable pain, or embarrassment, hard to tell.
Wow! Wonderful! Best “Frazz” in the last few weeks! I really like that Caulfield is showing care for another kid. And, I especially like that Principal Spaetzel is also showing care for Caulfield and in a back-handed way, telling Caulfield he did a good thing. Principal Spaetzel is, IMO, the very best character in this comic!!!!!!
Unfortunately, I think a lot of folks will see through it and consequently remember both. Oh, well. It was nice of him to try. Chivalry isn’t quite the same in grade school.
When two people are riding in a car and one of them farts, everybody knows who did it! In the classroom, (Lower grades), when kids burp, I tell them to at least keep them coming out of the front end…..It usually gets a laugh….

Love it – that he covered and that the principal did not punished him.

Looking at Caulfield’s face in the first panel, I wonder about the “little fart” aspect of his defense.

Flatulance or eructation, both serve the same basic function. Just the exit point is different.

Caulfield did a good thing here since he can weather any fools attempting to razz him over the girl’s loss of face.

A good-hearted fart joke, but a fart joke nonetheless. And they call puns the lowest form of humor.
