We call it cat tv. Robins built a nest this spring on the log corner right next to the screen porch. Both of ours were completely fascinated and spent hours watching the birds.
My indoor kitty is in the window right now. He knows the words “kitty window” mean that the screened window is up and he can sit on his perch and watch the birds, squirrels, people and all.
Ours sit at the back slider and front screen and watch for critters and birds.. There are hummers and other birds at the birdbath and lizards on the hot patio and walkway. And don’t forget the quail and bunnies making their way thru the yards. You guys catch the smallest details – like the little sandal on Pucks’ paw.
I can’t open my windows because one of my cats will launch onto the screen and attach herself, where she then just hangs, unsure what to do until I pry her off. She’s named Helena after the Orphan Black sestra and she is both wild and crazy.
We have two large awning windows on the south side, and a sun room on the southeast corner. I’ve installed shelves just inside the windows, specifically for cats to sit/watch/sleep on. The back porch is fully screened, hardware cloth outside and inside, and yes, shelves for the cats’ use. But they’re not at all spoiled, not at all …
It’s true about the sun reflector, too. 8-Ball’s favorite shelf space (one of them) is where a bookshelf partially covers one of the window shelves. When the sun comes in it gets very warm in that spot, even in winter. Finally, thank Bast for BCN—Best Comic Now.
This one must have been inked some time prior to yesterday’s—Pucky’s eyebrows are black, and floating above his head. Yesterday, they were white, and in the place one usually finds eyebrows.
As soon as I moved into this house I put in a kitty tunnel through the brick wall from the den to the screened in back porch. The porch is screened floor to ceiling and is set up for just the kitties. There is s scratching post and a chair they turned into a scratching post, litter box and a few throw rugs in case they don’t want to lay on the concrete floor. Nope mine aren’t spoiled at all.

my boys went nuts when i’d open a window (with screen), they were indoor kitties, & they’d sniff the air, guess it smelled exotic and intoxicating

So do mine when it’s cool enough to open the patio doors (with screen, yes!). Puck really knows how to enjoy life, doesn’t he?

OK, I’m guessing a pineapple mint mojito, or maybe the mocktail version of the same.

Funny it shows priorities. Puck focusing more on the breeze than on the delicious butterflies.

My Ike prefers moths, which I think would be kinda dry. Maybe they are the "powdered doughnuts " of the insect world.
