People have recently been complaining about the strangest things in the weekly continuity strips. With other people stating that they are enjoying exactly what others are complaining about.
Let me be the first to make a meaninless complaint about this Sunday cartoon.
I want to know the title of the book she’s reading.
Judging from the stains on Brad’s shirt, the things which Evans thankfully did not put in the comic strip were the food fight between Shannon and Brad and the moment when she pushed him into the bramble bush.
Either someone needs to check Shannon’s Flintstone tablets for ‘performance enhancers’…. or someone needs to order Brad some….
-
…Unless Brad and Toni decided to do this, for their “American Gladiators” callback training…
-
-Maybe Toni got smart, and brought that book to keep her butt on that bench! She’ll probably tell Brad that “It’s a real page turner!”…and is also “Very gripping!”. So very gripping, that she “Can’t put it down, right now!”. And that if Brad “knows what’s best (for him)”, he’ll "let (her) continue "….
Pretty out of shape for a firefighter. Not to worry Brad. If all other girls are as Shannon, she will have no need for your company before her 15th birthday.
Get off your butt Toni. I remembered when we had family gatherings we would get stuck playing/sweating/aching with all the young cousins. All the other adults would laugh at us and just sit on their asses. Even the young parents who had their kids out of wedlock who had more energy than us had nothing to do with the all of the kids. We stopped going years ago. WILL NOT entertain the next generation and watch all of the “sit on asses” who look at their cell phones. They had "great"role models and now THEIR kids are being ignored.
Vice-President Gore once predicted that the internet would be an “information superhighway” which was such an accurate representation of the then future, now present; one of the side roads of that highway is how issues of the day can be argued across social media platforms of all types, even when the side roads are supposed to go to cartoon comment, but end up in social commentary. Today we have a child Shannon, a newly married attractive couple, Toni and Brad, and somehow we get into a spirited argument over reproductive rights versus government law forbidding such choice. Can we escape from such serious discussion, when commenting on a comic strip world? Apparently not, the superhighway really works like a brain I think with all kinds of thoughts all over the place depending on how they relate to the particular brains view of the world. I am not a big person in favor of abortion, being a bastard child myself, it has personal urgency to me. On the other hand I believe in reproductive rights, and thus reproductive choice for women over their own bodies, and not having the choice made by law, other than to protect public health. There so I got into it myself, and I am afraid we can’t totally avoid social commentary. That being said this a wonderful human foible weekend panel, with the humor being Brad being run ragged by Shannon, and Toni being beautiful and cool on her bench enjoying her book. That is all I see on the actual panel, and reproductive regulation or freedom have nothing whatever to do with the panels today. Human nature,, jeez!!! (lol).
Regarding Saturday’s strip (I was way-busy yesterday):
1) Fay has perhaps not been encouraged to order food for herself, as she has a number of food allergies – so, her mom would ‘step in’ and order for her. Not saying that’s all bad, but…
2) I am really liking Ox now! He has really grown as a character. I do wish that he would have had his ‘Oliver Hardy’ outfit from the talent show earlier – at least the bowler hat!! That would have topped it all!!
I have to say that I have not seen a single person troll on Ox. I like him too, and he is there as a check on Les. Will he also do so on Ann, who we now know is Les’s long long evil mom? Luann time will tell.
Brad’s a good guy, it’s his niece and he loves her just for that fact and yes, he would do anything to keep Toni happy. As for Shannon, her own father doesn’t give her this much time or attention. I’d like to see Brad and Toni adopt her and educate her in being a somewhat calmer version of herself. She’s just a child who hasn’t been given any boundaries and that can be exhausting for any parent/adult.
Would Brad be this permissive and passive with a child of his own? I doubt it. I think he’s in a rivalry with Jonah, which is pathetic. But Shannon does have the same eyebrows as Brad. Maybe that’s why Brad has convinced himself they have a bond
Have you noticed that in EACH of the following three days the favored comment get altered to be comments from the same person, ones that get no replies? Anyone know what is happening?
Bwad is down but not out—at least not entirely, as long as Toni can spell him for a few minutes so he can catch his breath. This is what happens when you get old, Bwad: can’t keep up with the kids; e.g., Shannon….

This reminds me of The Wicker Man, when Rowen led Sgt. Howe on a chase through the cave. He emerged looking like something the cat dragged in.

The title of the book Toni is reading? “Fun With Friction”
.
It is science related.

Come on, now, people- isn’t it good to see Shannon having some good, healthy exercise? And having fun?

Shannon won’t be small forever. She will grow, remember and be sure to thank you in the future Brad.

Besides Tony is worth it. She looks a bright as sunshine. I’m sure Brad looks at her and sighs everytime. She makes for an excellent trophy wife

Not sure why Brad is over-functioning. Kids don’t need that much help.

A bummer Sunday night/Monday if the cartoon proceeds on Toni playing with Shannon. Thankfully, most Sunday Luann strips are not continued.
