Oh, no, it’s time to talk about the facts of life Elvis. Brace yourself!

What? She has light green blobs; Elvis has light green blobs…Looks the same to me.

The Woman spends quite a bit of time looking at Elvis!

If the baby and Elvis have got The Woman’s eyes, how can she see?

But, but, he does.

He’s the spitting image of his mom.

You know, I was noticing the same thing since Georgia started coloring.

We’ve never quite determined whether our two see us as parents or kittens. Parents when we cuddle, I suppose, kittens when they bring us prey or toys?

Flashback to the May 5th strip: Elvis, you’re mother was a cat!

Elvis was her first baby.

The photograph (I think it was posted on Facebook) of Elvis seeing another cat in his house (in real life) for the first time is priceless!

I never saw a green eyed Meezer before.

Poor Elvis is going to have the meaning of adopted explained to him.

Hmm. Woman has green eyes, Elvis has green eyes, and Lupin and Baby. Siamese have blue eyes. Is Elvis only masquerading as a Siamese?

Maybe Elvis is part Tonkinese. Tonk’s have turquoise eyes.

“He has my father’s eyes…”

“Gomez, take those out of his mouth.”

Could this strip possibly get funnier or more adorable?

Pucky, no, don’t tell him anything!

Adopted, POOH! Some of my cousins were adopted. They’re as much family as I am! All my non-human babies have been & are family. PERIOD! Don’t worry little Elvis!

Elvis absolutely has the woman’s eyes!!! That’s part of how you can tell you got the right furry family members, when you see all the ways they take after the two legged family members.

Time to tell the story of the phenotypes and genotypes.

If I remember the adoption story correctly, the Woman had Elvis’s eyes in a way no human had ever had them before—and he has scarcely looked away since.

I have a nephew born with blond hair so light it is almost white. No other blonds in the family on either side for at least three generations. When just a toddler, people would pat his head and ask, in front of my sister, “Where ever did you get this blond hair?” She grew tired of hearing this jokey implication and very early on taught him to give a specific answer that usually cut off the inquisitor. It is pretty startling to hear a child just beginning to talk pipe up with “Genes and chromosomes.”

Elvis has had a rather rough week. He needs extra ham and/or bacon and a quick 16-hour nap.
