Okay. I too was wrong suspecting Hair (who confuses me how he was able to hear Bernice’s knocking on his door when wearing those headphones). As for Tiffany, she might be up to something… with Gunther or (dare I say his name?) Piro.

Tiffany hopefully has gone thru a makeover and ditched the helmet hair.

Bernice doesn’t shock easily- snarky people generally don’t – so it has to be something. Tiffany is sometimes outrageous – as attention seekers do – and Bernice knows that so that has to be over the top…what was she doing??!!

Is Tiffany standing there in the raw? Is she with some guy, and if so, who? Did she radically restyle or shorten her hair?

How many other creative hypotheses can we come up with, before we find out next week?

After Gunther told Tiffany to be more real and he left her at her door, who knows what she has done. Perhaps she cut her hair as he told her that her hair does not move. Perhaps she has been binge eating. Perhaps she has gone with the grunge look. Perhaps she is covered with tattoos. Whatever it is, Bernice is shocked.

What will Monday bring? A Radically “Made-Over, Plain-Jane Tiffany?” Well, if that’s the Case, just let Me be the FIRST to Say, That ALREADY, I miss the “Old” Tiff…..,

Let’s wade through the scenarios (1) No we are not going to see Tiffany au naturel; (2) Tiff might be preparing for the body art show; (3) Maybe a major hair change; (4) If there’s a guy it’s not Gunther but maybe Piro; (5) If Greg & Karen start a new arc Sunday night/Monday, I’m taking them to court…

Tiffany is getting ready to go to the Body Art thing by having some ink applied in advance…

Apparently this loud music is not so loud that Bernice can use her ears to follow the sound. Nevertheless, this cliff hanger raises the question: What is Tiffany doing?

1.Lingerie modeling.

2.She has gone completely goth and dyed everything black in order to sing in her new Rock’n’Roll band “The Misdirections.”

3.Leslie is in the dormitory room with her.

4.Gunther is in the dormitory room with her.

5.Mr. Gray is in the dormitory room with her.

6.Prudence is in the dormitory room with her.

7.Tiffany is seated in front of her desk with books open in front of her and she is studying.

8.Tiffany looks just like Hair with earphones on and saying, “What.”

9.Tiffany is doing bawdy art.

Raw?

No. Door opened too quickly and too fully.

A question mark. So it is a “is that you” surprise.

Music, by the very soft “what” was quickly turned off.

Music to hide the sound of hair clippers?

She’d have it done professionally.

Most outrageous but most lovable to readers:

Both Gunther and Tiffany are covered in TEMPORARY tattos and they are both learning how to dance.

With or without a hair style change for both.

I vote for the American Pie ripoff.

Each is using the other to lern how to date. But later on….

I’m reposting an issue I posted yesterday, in hopes of hearing some opinions from women this time.

I said that I thought a couple of guys on here were making too much fuss about the term “tramp stamp” being sexist when applied to lower-back tattoos.

I said that it would be nice if some women would speak for themselves on the issue. But I opined that many women probably would find it okay, because some of them use the term jokingly in referring to their own tattoos.

There were several responses, both pro and con. But all of them were from guys.

So I’m trying once again. I’d like to hear some WOMEN’S opinions on the use of this term, if any would like to comment.

What a very strange dorm.

I now find it edgy, rebellious, nonconformist, refreshingly cool, hip, and beautifully turned on by the mere Total absence of tattoos. Any mutilation of characters in this strip and I’m gone. I see enough not only at Walmart’s but on doctors and nurses, B-list celebrities… makes Keane art on black velvet look invaluable, beyond classy. and priceless…

Let me guess…. Tiffany slept with Gunther? (cheeky giggles)

I’ve thought Tiff’s situation over more carefully, particularly in regard to the music.

A logical possibility is simply that she has restyled her hair. But in that case, the music was just Tiff’s carelessness, and a mechanism to get Bernice to knock on her door. And I’ve never known Tiff to show a penchant for loud music, so this is questionable.

On the other hand, for the music to be more significant, I think she must be there with some guy. The loud music would pretty much rule out Gunther or Piro. Les Knox is the only current character that fits.

Otherwise, all bets are off.

Nope, Hair’s just listening to rock through his headphones and smoking weed. Nothing to see here…

Tiffany wouldn’t have opened her door if there was anything going on that she didn’t want Bernice to see, so my guess is she just had a makeover and looks different.

Whatever it is, I wish Greg would give Tiff a break. He’s already crushed her ego. She needs a steady relationship; for a while at least.

Why does Bernice need her purse/backpack to check her floor?? And where’d the clipboard go?

Maybe she went all Sinead O’Connor / Brittany Spears and shaved her head?

Can’t wait to see Tiffany new look without the helmet hair and more relaxed that before!

(Oh please let it be Tiffany stark naked. This strip desperately needs something interesting.)

What a shock Bern has gotten.

I just hope that it is not something where Tiffany is trying to harm herself. If it is, then Bernice will have a REAL chance to use her desire to help, not control, someone else. Tiffany is very fragile, as the last set of panels with Gunther showed. Then a ticket to a body art show will not mean anything.

Maybe she dyed her hair black? A non-blonde Tiffany, to fight the blonde stereotyping?

have to address the question: why would Tiffany be playing music unusually loudly?

SAVE BERNICE !!!!!! She’s been a true friend to nearly everybody in this strip. It’s time for all of them to return the favor.

Bernice is standing right in front of Hair’s room, but she can’t tell that the “excessively loud” music is coming from someplace else until he opens the door? This is not a well written scenario, to set up whatever is being set up.

Tiff is running an illegal daycare, and is using the loud music to drown out the sound of the screaming kids!

It can tricky to find the source of a noise, especially in an interior space. Volume doesn’t always help.

Tiffany without makeup. And maybe without her wig, or her teeth. Or her glass eye, and prosthetic arm.

The Evanses might switch back to a previous arc, to tease some impatient readers.

Knowing Greg it be probably something lame like Gunther in her room

Tiffany is smoking weed and Gunther is in a library somewhere.

I’m guessing she doesn’t have makeup on.

When we last saw Tiffany, she had been having a delightful time at the Berger-Gray dinner, and then Gunther brought her home, criticized her as being superficial, and left her sobbing about her situation in life. Maybe the loud music is a somber depressing song that Tiffany is blasting on her stereo as she sits on the floor, an unkempt mess who hasn’t eaten in days and is surrounded by scores of wept-through tissues. You’re such a gentleman, Gunther!

I think the very fact that Tiffany has not gone out on a Saturday night could be enough for that reaction.

It looks like yesterday could be chalked up to misinterpretation, and if so, then fine. If by ‘emphasis on certain words’, you meant the ‘DUTY CALLS!!!’ from my post yesterday, I meant that Bernice was displacing her anger by being a hard-@ss about the rules – all because she felt the pang of loneliness by not going along to the body art expo (and maybe, because she’s jealous of Tara – for now). When DUTY does CALL, then it should be taken seriously, whatever the capacity (‘enforcement’, ‘law-giving’), whatever. Just don’t do that service when you have a chip on your shoulder or cannot be of objective mind.

If you meant my handle, then it’s more of a ‘part-of-the-joke’ deal. Think of the word "Sheriff’, and you may (or may not) have the image of an imposing, ominous figure that can dispense justice with a cold, heartless hand. Or – if you find out that behind the title and badge, there’s an actual person, like you or me, doing a job that’s serious at times – but he’s more often the "Andy Taylor’ type, through and through, then you got it.

So, no – I’m no ‘sheriff’ or ‘deputy’, but I do take my job seriously, with compassion to frame it together. Comics relieve the stress that’s there, and Luann helps with that. In closing, “Goober says, ‘Hey’!!” Cheers!

In Panel 4, look at the image of Tiffany’s ‘what’ balloon – it has a plaintive, rather sad feel to it – plus, the room is obviously dark! Not saying she’s hit rock bottom, but she is down on herself, I think. Bernice is feeling lonely, too, and perhaps Bern can help Tiff out here. It’s up in the air if we find out next week, but we’ll see.

Gunther crushed Tiffany’s self-esteem on June 14. Bernice is probably shocked to see Tiffany now, assuming she looks the way that Gunther (our hero, ladies and gentleman!) left her looking on June 17.

Next week and the following two weeks…Gunther relives his time in South America.

Whatever it is, the anticipation is going to be much better than the actual event.

Tiffany’s entire life would suddenly change if daddy just ran out of money. Got indited for stock fraud, etc.

I went back to the Gunther date strips. Gunther left Tiff all shook up but not devastated.

Today, Tiff may be devastated.

OK… the last time we saw Tiffany she was dumping Les’s phone # in the trash. So I don’t think he would be there. Gunther remarked that her hair didn’t move and that she didn’t seem real, i.e. natural. Tiffany has always thrived on dressing up and being stylish; she lived for that so it must have been a severe blow to her self esteem. Without any friends or family to reach out to, is it possible that she has tried to take her life with the music a cover-up or a cry for help? I know this is extreme but the look on Bernice’s face and low tone in Tiffany’s voice suggests something not good. If Bernice had gone to the expo, perhaps no one would be there to help.

Tiffany is probably bent out of shape because Greg has not given her a lot of arc time lately. C’mon, Greg, give her a larger presence in the strip.

The data are few. There is loud music. And there is something about Tiffany that causes a questioning (doesn’t recognize her? Why?) and shocked response from the bossy RA.

Quite a cliffhanger! I don’t know the answer to “What did Bernice see?” But it should be interesting!

Am I alone in thinking Tiffany may be suicidal? I’ve counseled enought students in this age to know it is a common problem.

I think Tiffany has done something with how she looks, by Bern’s shock and question mark. If Tiffany was trying to hide something or someone, she wouldn’t have come to the door so fast or even at all.

It’s a long time until the Monday posting. Time for me to realize I have a life other than Luannville.

Tiffany and Gunther are having a “moment”! Nudity may or may not be involved. . . .

Either Tiffany is standing on a chair w/ a noose around her neck, OR Tiff is sitting at her desk in gray sweats, hair in bun or ponytail reading and studying WEARING GLASSES! Tiff had contacts for years but never told anyone. I think I’ll play it safe with #2
