I love how realistic Pucky’s little paws and nose look wedged up against the glass. It’s details like this that really enhance the brilliance of this comic. Happy Autumn Equinox everyone! :) I love this time of year! Puck will bravely save us from the leaves again!
Indeed it does, Pucky! We still have temperatures in the mid to high 80s, but leaves are falling. Next week the temperatures will fall by 20+ degrees within 36 hours.
I love this poem about a child lamenting the death of leaves. I love the creative use of words in new contexts… leafmeal for piecemeal, unleaving to refer to the shedding of leaves.
My goodness, you ate all correct. I did not pick up on him rolling his sleeves up- I took that to be sort of like “boxing” he swiped with his left and was going to jab with his right.
. . . we recently loss our white cat, “Stinky”. Falling leaves were her greatest thrill, though she was never able to catch any. The squirrels and birds will certainly miss teasing her from outside her window. :’(

Did anyone notice a leaf falling in the window on panel 3 when Elvis faints? Sort of a lead in to today’s strip.

Skyped with my best friend in Elko, NV last night. It was 96 there last week and it snowed yesterday.

“Spring and Fall: To a Young Child”
Márgarét, are you grieving
Over Goldengrove unleaving?
Leáves, líke the things of man, you
With your fresh thoughts care for, can you?
Ah! ás the heart grows older
It will come to such sights colder
By and by, nor spare a sigh
Though worlds of wanwood leafmeal lie;
And yet you wíll weep and know why.
Now no matter, child, the name:
Sórrow’s spríngs áre the same.
Nor mouth had, no nor mind, expressed
What heart heard of, ghost guessed:
It ís the blight man was born for,
It is Margaret you mourn for.

Why does Puck in the last panel sound like Batman?
