Most of us remember the Cold War and the Cuban Missile Crisis; a few probably remember WW2. What we have seen in the last several decades does not begin to compare to what has gone before, at least for those of us in the western world.
The dire predictions of the end of the world from at least 1 AD to now, have so far all proven to be incorrect. As the earth is still spinning and we are still here. I predict the sun will still come up tomorrow. Oh No! now that I have made that prediction. I will be expecting the whole thing to blow up! (that is the way my luck goes, so your all in trouble).
Yeah, okay, times have been bad, but we’ve never had, at the same time, two fat, pasty faced swaggering bellicose buffoons who think “Might makes right.” With stupid hairdos and their fat fingers just itching to hit the red button to prove what big brave men they are(n’t).
Had a friend who ran a religious radio station and had to sell a block of time weekly for a month to a preacher who was SURE the world would end on a certain day and time and wanted to warn everyone to be ready. Several people did in fact sell everything they owned before the day and time of the big farewell—which did not happen. He gave the preacher a free hour to go on and explain things, which he did. “A simple mistake” he said….and then he packed up and left town.
