Glad to see we’re moving on. Sad to see that Tiffany was not able to handle Ann as she had thought. Question remaining: Can Tiff handle Les as she had previously thought?
I’m guessing Tiffany is feeling depressed again, due to her father’s reaction to Ann’s phone call, and Tiffany not only doesn’t want to face Dez, she wants to go eat a lot more pizza…
Don’t give up now, Tiffany!! You cornered her. Yeah she got to your dad first but when you report her for being a scammer and con artist, her father will definitely find out and will probably look into things and find out what scum he’s dating…I’ve really been rooting Tiffany and Les on, and I don’t want it to end like this, not now :-( Don’t let Ann win!
Dez, for someone as allegedly as intuitive as you , and others, make yourself out to be, of all people you should know there aren’t any winners here, only losers.
Looks like Tiff’s funk will continue with associated weight gain. Greg now has carved out a little problem for himself. The Rubenesque fans took pointed offense at any negative comments about Tiff’s depression-induced weight gain. He will catch additional fury if Tiff makes a decision to get out of her blue funk and re-establish her former life and size. On the other hand, he needs a glamorous and svelte Tiff that has served an important character role for decades. Plus he already has a young, curvaceous character in Dez. Which way will he go?
Time for Gunther to ride in on a white horse and emotionally rescue Tiff. He’s also smart enough to solve the scam-Ann-father problem and end this downer of a n arc. (Take a hint Greg.) Of, course Gunther could come in and just design and make a new wardrobe for her. NAH!!!
This is probably her money and a note. Tiffany also needs to get the money back to Tara (yes want to see her again anytime) and Luann, the protagonist in this strip Remember her? Actually not being sarcastic, I know that the strip is about Luannverse itself, with Luann being the center. Like I said at least a month ago this arc has a lot of tentacles, yet to be unspun (unfurled? unspooled)?
I suppose this is a way to get the refunding done quickly and without the need for tedious explanations. The Tiffster, perilouly near to slipping back into her depressed state, and Leslie, her down-and-dirty fighting ally, need to agree on and implement a strategic Phase Two of the War on Annie Awful, one that separates her from her ally, Tom Farrell.
I’m already disliking him at least as much as anyone in the strip does….
I just can’t believe NONE of them thought to record Ann secretly, to have proof of what she said. Really?? sigh I don’t want Tiffany to give up. I think she should go to her Dad and confront him, and explain what is going on. There has GOT to be a way to do this.
Hmmm….. many interesting possibilities. Here are just a few that I can think of:
1) Most likely – Tiffany (as most suggest) has put Dez’s “refund” from the scam into an envelope and slid it under the door.
But, other potential (albeit many are unlikely) options I also thought of include:
2) Tiffany sent a note to Dez with hopes that Bernice would not learn of the contents and wants Dez to come see her so she can talk about what has transpired.
3) Tiffany does have the “refund” in the envelope, but delivers it in this way to allow her to shut herself off from everyone again…. due to the horrid behavior of her father.
4) The note may be (as Schrodinger’s Dog suggests) a “red herring”… we are supposed to think it is from Tiffany…. but it could be from someone else entirely…. and may not be anything to do with the scam.
5) The writing of “Dez” is a little “odd” suggesting it is not the writer’s normal penmanship…. perhaps it is an “anonymous” note of some sort?
This is not good, folks. Normally whenever Tiff uses her powers against someone, normally it looked like that she would win the battle, unless it backfired on her. Remember the underwear incident that got her suspended.
When I first saw Tiff as an overweight person, it looked like she went through some personal hell being that her dad dated Ann Eiffel and took his attention away from Tiff and focused more on Ann. When Gunther addressed her as Tiff, despite the weight gain, he acted like a total gentleman by not calling her names such as ‘Fatso’ because he saw Tiff as a normal person.
This looks like she’ll need Bernice and Dez’s help in order to make Ann look so bad that Tom Farrell will finally see the light and dump Ann for good, I hope, even with Les Knox’s help because he truly hated his own mother’s guts. <— Another win for his character development.
I tend to think that Tom “Cat” Farrell will never “see the light” in regards to this scam…. but especially will never see the light about his daughter.
What Tiffany may really need to do in this situation is to accept her partial victory about the scam itself, and then also figure out some way to accept that her father is not really worth her time and effort (at least as he is behaving at the moment). Tiffany, I believe, is at risk for going more into a emotionally darker place again… and I hope that she does not.
To keep her from going into the “dark”, I feel that her working to accept her “jerky” father for who he is… and moving on may be her best bet. If she can muster up the energy to do that…. then I think she may be able to pull through this in a relatively good way.
A refund is too predictable for Greg. A refund, and good bye note from Tiff would have more possibilities…….like the girls go on a search and rescue mission for their friend. Of course, it could always be another wrong envelope from last year’s Academy Awards.
Ann Eiffel and Tom Farrell appear to be ‘cut from the same cloth’; they deserve each other and ultimately (I hope) they will sabotage each other. I think Tiff needs to sever ties with her dad as soon as she can and find value in true friends and other decent caring persons. Tiff and Les are going through this journey simultaneously but hopefully not ‘together’.
Maybe she will mention Ann Eiffel in the note, and Bernice will see it, and then Bernice will call, and the the callees will call: The DeGroots, Brad and Toni, TJ, the police, the FBI, the CIA, Madame Souffle, Channel Two on Your Side, and other assorted cavalry, and then the Fuze will be raided, the contraband seized as evidence, and they will pour a bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the Luanaverse and she will shrivel up just like on the Wizard of Oz! Or, maybe not!

Okay. Now just WHY would Tiffany slip Dez’s refund under the door as opposed to knocking on the door and handing it to her?
1) It’s late and Tiff doesn’t want to disturb Dez.
2) Tiff is embarrassed because she partly failed in her mission and doesn’t want to face anyone.
- OR -
3) Les is with her and Tiff doesn’t want anyone to know he’s going to her room. Hence the refund is slipped under the door

I guess Tiff is passing out refunds to Dez, Luann & Tara. I still can’t figure out how Ann sold lingerie to Tara, who doesn’t wear those things.

Tiff could be depressed or figuring out her next move.
Vilyehm over 6 years ago
Considering the logic displayed in the last few weeks of the strip….
It was Ann slipping a refund under the door, apologizing for selling counterfiet goods she had no idea were counterfeit.
And now Ann can go after Tiffany for the money she extorted from her.
~~~~~
Never mind that this late at night, she would have to get past the locked front door to the dorm.
Typical soap opera, no win. I feel bad for Tiffany, but realistically even if she won, her father is a jerk. He deserves Eiffel.
So will we be in a Gunther/Tiff/Les romance mashup this week? Or an all-girl intervention (or ice cream pity party)?
That does not look like a woman’s printing on the envelope. It could be from Les. He indicated that he would help take down Ann.
This must be the next morning after the lingerie party. Dez and Bernice would probably not be up this late, well after 1 am by this time.
The note is from Al Gray, and he paid a student to slip notes under Dez’s door and Tiffany’s door at the dorm, and at Tara’s apartment.
