Yep. A vow of silence means no communication, be it verbal, hand language or any other way. This can’t last long without her exploding from the stress.

You know that you can achieve silence by turning off all electrical devises. Even if left on, you don’t have to respond or respond immediately.

Young Lorenzo, devastated at a failed love affair, decides to renounce worldly affairs and become a monk. He joins an ascetic order where he’s required to adhere to a strict vow of silence. He’s allowed to speak only 2 words per year.

At the end of his 1st year, he’s ushered into the presence of the abbot, where he says “food cold”.

At the end of his 2nd year, he says “bed hard”.

After his 3rd year, he says “too dark”.

Shortly thereafter, the prior tells the abbot that Brother Lorenzo has decided to leave the monastic life. The abbot sighs and says “I can’t say I’m surprised. He’s done nothing but complain ever since he got here.”

There are two ways to ensure silence on social media.

The first, obviously is not to use it. Avoid commenting on Facebook, Twitter, et al.

The second way is actually a by-product of the first. If people don’t “like”, “follow”, “reply”, etc. etc. the tweeting twits will have no audience for their inanities.

Just as long as this doesn’t progress to the Twilight Zone way of maintaining a vow of silence.

Recall the X-Files episode, “Je Souhaite,” near the end of Season 7 where the boss of a loser employee gets his mouth disapeared after chewing out the employee.

    Now that is bad.
