Uh, guys… Twain never “held it from publication”. In fact, he had many excerpts published in his lifetime. Subsequently, some attempts were made at publication, the real problem being that it was an editor’s nightmare. The 100th death anniversary release of Vol. 1 was a marketing gimmick of our own day.

People are gullible enough to swallow the media story that this election, or the one before it, or the one before that in some way involved “change.” Yeah, right: in this big “house-cleaning” election, 87 percent of the incumbents won re-election. Down from an average of 90 percent for the last forty years. Wow! What a change!

Never mind the Demoncraps and Repuglicants; the only party that matters in this country is the Incumbents.

I find it easier to make up the past than the future. Oh the things I think I’ve done….About the election, abused women usually go back to their abusers and hope things will be different this time…

Irrefutably proven in the presidential election. A matter for conjecture in the past one, as of yet.

I can NOT believe that I’m being pulled into a political discussion! DEMOCRATS believe that ‘everyone who disagrees with me must be stupid’??? Me thinks it’s the other way around, as in ‘everyone whose stupid disagrees with the Democrats’. (she’s smiling as she types) The problem today is nobody has a sense of humor (well, except for Wiley) and we don’t respect each other’s right to believe what we believe. I RESPECT your right to be stupid. I do. I really do.

She’s just channeling H.G. Wells, and some presidential “historians” or ghost writers like for presidents like: “W”, GHW, Harding-a short one, and Harrison -a REALLY short one! Danae might be one wiling to assume command by succession?

Ah Wiley, you don’t have to explain yourself. Inference on the part of the reader is 90% of the fun. And, for what it’s worth, I got it and at 5AM this morning before the first cup of coffee.

Which election results is Wiley talking about? 2010 or 2008? I mean, Obama got a hell of a lot of gullible folks to vote for 100% hype and lies.

And, when I’m talking about Obama particularly, I mean he was elected on account of what was assumed were his qualifications and abilities, which were non-existent, so it would seem that this comic would have fit more perfectly with that election cycle than this one.

The president wrote two autobiographies before he was 30. He should be given credit for the idea in the acknowledgement section, not Mark Twain. And I should get ten percent of the gross for suggesting it.

Last weekend I was talking with someone who spent three years in a different country and then came back to the U.S. He said that the political polarization and negativity in the language used to describe the other party had gotten a lot worse during those three years. Kind of makes you think - are we getting so used to hearing that kind of language that we don’t notice ourselves slipping into the habit of using it ourselves and becoming part of the problem? When you’re in a bad mood, it is a lot of fun to think of the other team as evil. Maybe there are other ways to cope? (Sorry - barely relevant thought-stream over….)
