Coming Soon š At the beginning of April, youāll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
If you look at the GoComics āsampleā of the strip, it still has Guyās artwork and you can see the obvious differences in style. Oliviaās children actually look more human than Guyās. The heads arenāt as round and they actually have chins.
I recall there being a 2nd generation of the Nancy strip. It was chunkier and more outlandish than its original stiffs. This 3rd generation seems stiffer than the original. Not liking it.
Not to change the subject, but did you all know that this comments section has become popular? https://news.avclub.com/its-2018-and-people-are-suddenly-screaming-at-each-oth-1825376287
I am so happy to no longer be the āweirdā and polarizing cartoonist in these parts. Great stuff, Olivia. From someone who has read all five creatorsā versions of Nancy.
I love the new look of Nancy. It might be drawn a little sparse than before, but I think Olivia draws Nancy herself more like Ernie Bushmiller did ā a little chubby. Guyās Nancy was slimmer, but IMO, she is meant to be chubby. I am just happy to be reading Nancy every day!
I dont think Olivia Haines exists either,Too much of a coincidence that this early on thereās references to critiques on the internet and effort into artwork.Donāt be. surprised if Aunt Fritzi is doing drag shows !
We used to be able to see how many people followed each comic strip. No longer can see that. Iām curious to know how many have stopped following Nancy? Iām close to being one of them. :(
For those who say the new artist isnāt true to Bushmillerās humor, check the Nancy strip from January 20, 1951. Itās a similar visual gag where the cartoonist is the punchline.
I read Nancy as a child. Tried it again back when i first joined Go comics. Quickly dropped it. Then i read one in the top 5 the other day and chuckled. Today I read an article about the new cartoonist. Read today and laughed. Iām back to following this strip.
āItās about my officeā¦ my officeā¦ seems that during the recent crisis, people had this aversion to freezingā¦ and they were just burning anything that didnāt move or saluteā¦ Yeahā¦ I mean Iām talking to you from the middle of a really big emptyā¦ā (Col. Henry Blake, M*A*S*H )
I havenāt even thought about Nancy for thirty years. All you āI hate changeā people, all you did was draw attention to the comic and made me notice that āHey, these are kind of funny! Actual jokes!ā
So go ahead an unsubscribe, secure in the knowledge that your whining has brought in new readers.
Itās just hard to laugh at a strip in which the two main characters look like they are suffering from some horrible disease that blanches the skin. Is this just a matter of taste? If Iād never seen the former Nancy strips and just started with whatās being presented now, Iād have removed it from my daily viewing list. Give it another to weeks, tops.
This is fairly charming. So what if itās not Bushmiller. How long did it take for Bushmiller to become Bushmiller? Gord knows Hagar, Beetle Bailey, and Wizard of Id are humorless and pointless.

LOL. If it werenāt for lead time, I would suggest that Olivia is responding to my comment a few days ago about lack of background.
