My favorite PC quote is frm Dave Barry, “You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.
It’s not the Speech Police that are the problem. It’s their wives who insist that they keep a lid on free expression, or at least put the seat down after use.
So now what? Crocodilian-American? Crocodilian-Comicstripian? Reptilian-Pearlsian? The world awaits the politically correct term. We mustn’t possibly be offensive to anyone anywhere at any time.
But if it’s social ostrichism, it’s a case of mistooken identality! Theses crocodials were neverer headyhiderers, and thereses no socialite bone in theirer bodystickings!
Right. And why did “oriental” become a wrong term when it never was used derogatorily as many Asians will attest and carries no hurtful connotations. I mean, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel is one the best hotel chains in the world…
I DO miss seeing the crocs as often as we used to. They always been my favorite characters. (I always have to try on a “flapped hat” like Larry wears when I’m in a clothing store. Yes, my wife is embarrassed!)
I say feed the Speech Police to the crocs! They’ll do the job. I’m afraid Stephan may have bitten off more than he can chew. Let Larry and the guys get their teeth into it!
Actually, I think the booing crowd is, in fact, booing the Speech Police for firing Larry and the other crocs. Clearly, genera discrimination against reptiles generally and species discrimination against crocodiles specifically, in my humble opinion. All the other major characters are various mammals.
Although not an eagle, I, myself, am bald. But the Speech Police cannot choose between “hirstutely handicapped” or “follicually challenged.” So I pretty much stick with “bald.” It’s easier. I used to add “as a cue ball,” but the SPCBS found that phrase offensive to the non-solid, non-striped, and non-numbered (if you didn’t know, SPCBS is the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Billiard Spheroids; donations welcome).
Well that’s a good explanation about why the crocs don’t appear so often anymore. Even ZEBRA has been demoted to a semi-regular character! And what happened to Guard Duck and Snuffles?!? It’s like half the main cast is disappearing!!
