    Franklin drove John Adams crazy over in Paris, attending parties until 3 in the morning and coming into the office at noon. But he knew that was the way French politics worked. And he was a widower by the time he arrived in Paris, so there was nothing wrong with enjoying some of the ladies who regarded him as the late 18th century equivalent of a rock star.
