Bless their hearts. So considerate of them to want to help the man get some much needed sleep. What would humans ever do without such dedicated helpers? I’m sure he was bright eyed and bushy tailed for that all important interview!
Their lucky it’s him and not me. We had a problem here a few years ago with one of the house jacks letting go. Had to replace the jack, unfortunately we were unable to fix things to where they were. Which means there are a couple of doors that no longer close properly, the one leading upstairs and the one to my bedroom. The one leading upstairs is an easier fix, if we want to get out a sander and sand down the door a fraction of an inch or so. It closes, just not enough to latch.. My bedroom, on the other hand, would be a major job in comparison. Old house, and some of the doors are latches instead of knobs. Now the rest the latch is supposed to go into is about a quarter to half an inch above where the latch is supposed to be when closed so it’s now a push door. Bandit and DC discovered they could open both doors earlier this year and for about three months I had problems with them opening the doors as I was trying to get to sleep. AND whenever I left. Ended up having to put a hook and eye on the outside of the door to be able to keep it closed when I’m gone. They still open both on occasion, though DC more opens the downstairs door and finds a spot to sleep in the hall so as to wait for me when I get up. The hook keeping them out of my room and them pushing me to the brink of them thinking I was going to kill them took out a lot of their curiosity. But there are still times I wake up to a cat in my room.
Also, I love the little detail of the teabag in Lupin’s cup to show he is drinking soothing tea at night instead of stimulating coffee. I’ll bet it’s chamomile. :-) Happy Sunday fellow Mega Orbsters! ((lots of healing vibes, bear hugs, orb bumps and boops going out to everyone who needs them))
Two of my cats used to sit in the room I was in and cry if I hadn’t gone to bed when they wanted to sleep. My Red Persian female, Pudsey, used to do this a lot as she wanted to sleep on the other pillow and have a paw in contact with me. She’d start off with a front paw in my hand, purring her way off to sleep, but quite often I’d wake up with one of her back feet on my head or in my face. She was really sweet.
Elvis in panel 5 is Yum Yum at 6:08 this morning. She sat on my head, stuck her nose in my ear and yowled that it was time to get up. She wanted out, she could see the bottom of her food dish, and her water was only half full. Couldn’t wait an hour for me to wake up naturally, nope, nuh-uh, no way.
Anyhow, happy Sunday/Bunday to all orbsters and orbabies. Hugs, bumps and boops to everyone. I have to get the strawberries and rhubarb I bought yesterday cut up and into the freezer this morning, so I can make strawberry rhubarb pies in the indefinite future.
How timely. Sunrise is at 4:46 a.m. right now, which means the sky starts to lighten at about 3:46, which means Saxon thinks I should get up. I don’t know which is worse, the Siamese voice in my ear or the pointy stiletto feet on my rib cage.
Grrrrrr. Also, could someone shut that @#$$£¥* robin up!?
This is why our adorable little fuzzbutts are shut out of the bedroom every night! Finnegan (in my profile picture) waits until you’ve juuuuuust started to doze off, then decided to sing the song of his people in your ear. Molly has to check and make sure we aren’t dead by stomping on us and yelling in our faces. Every five minutes.
Decades ago, my old Tom spotted a rival. They both entered a home whose owners had a pet door for their dachshunds. Tom caught up with the rival and a fight ensured — on top of the owners’ bed at 2:30 am. Luckily, these people were good friends of our family. The ransom wasn’t too high. (Kidding!)
Hey BCN friends! We just got back from the vet after little Apple’s 3 week checkup for the lymphoma treatment. All is going VERY well, she has even put on a few ounces and is finally at 7 pounds (up about 6 ounces since earlier this Spring). Vet is cutting the chemo dose in half, keeping her on the daily low dose prednisone and keeping the vitamin B12 injections at once a week for at least 3 or 4 more weeks. YAY!! YOU ALL have been a part of this— I really believe in good vibes and folks, you all have sent a TON of them her way. Apple and I thank you more than I can say.
BTW, found another good way to get her to willingly take her pills… if you’re familiar with Underwood deviled ham product, they also make a chicken spread. We put the can in the fridge to firm it up a bit, take a tiny bit (less than a teaspoon, it does have a lot of salt in it) and wrap the pill in it, She can’t get it in her mouth fast enough! For 3 weeks I haven’t had to pry open her mouth for a single dose. Hey, you gotta go with what works when you know the meds will be a daily thing for a long, long time. Sorry to be so long winded (again!) but wanted to let you all know— BCN FOLKS ROCK!!! :-)
So… I have two good guesses (both of whom’s names start with an “S”), as to which cat is knocking the magnets off my fridge. I never did find the two magnets I had that look like kitties, so the only ones left are flat ones (such as one that lists important emergency numbers, one that has my vet’s info, etc), plus a grocery list pad. I have moved all the magnets so they are lower on the door and not near any edges. I have a bunch of tiny magnets that had words on them and have taken those off the fridge entirely.
The cat in question is still knocking the remaining magnets off my fridge (and carrying them around the house, I found one in my bedroom).
@fullmoondeb,
Regarding your comment yesterday… Sophie couldn’t have been in my home, but she may have inspired my cats.

Not that they might not “help” on any other night . . . but tonight is obviously important, so they’re making a special effort!

And where is the Woman? Or is the camera just not showing her because naturally she was able to fall asleep?

Of course, this is just a figment of Georgia’s imagination. Couldn’t possibly be based on a real incident. No way.

Is that why Blossom tries to nip at me when I’m in bed? Must be her way of trying to help me sleep. Cat logic FTW.

A question – why aren’t Lupin and Elvis in their jammies? Are they “on duty” all night, taking it in shifts, to be sure that the Man falls asleep?

That’s right Elvis. You need to stand on the Man’s head in order to closely monitor his sleep. Not just near him but on him.

From the 5th Dimension
Last night, the Man didn’t sleep at all
(No, no, no)
He didn’t get so much as a little snooze,
We reported everything on the late night news,
Oh, last night we thought that we could help him rest
We knocked everything off the shelf, it was not too much of a mess,
But last night
He didn’t get to sleep, didn’t get to sleep at all!
We know it’s not our fault, we did our best,
Each hour we checked on him so he could rest.
But more and more we found,
We need to run around
To make sure the alarm is far away!!
Oh last night, the Man didn’t sleep at all!
(No, no, no)
It seems all our best efforts were just a waste of time
But we heard the interview still went just fine.
So tonight, we’ll help the Woman sleep, help the Woman sleep, help the Woman sleep
As well!
