She didn’t comment on Tiffany’s weight gain so I assume she has been seeing her before now. If Ms. Phelps/Mrs Fogarty were a good counselor, she will connect the weight gain with something emotional happening in her life and grabbed a jumbo notebook upon Tiffany’s entrance rather than dropping the smaller one in the drawer. Tiffany always has been a good actress so I assume Tiffany acted as if the weight gain is merely the “frosh 25” in her previous visits with Ms.Phelps/Mrs. Fogarty.
Well Prince Harry got his princess and ours came back, too. Now, we must keep MORDOCK999 from attacking Les in a jealous, protective fit of rage. Welcome, Tiffany, it’s good to see you.
So is Ms Phelps like Mr Feeny from Boy Meets World, following the students to every school they attend? Or did she conveniently move to the private sector? I’m curious as to who would hire her, as she wasn’t all that effective of a guidance counselor based on everything we’ve seen. Still, it’s good to see Tiffany again, and hopefully we’ll spend some time exploring her various issues. Actually looking forward to this week’s story arc.
I like Tiffany’s more zaftig shape, she still is quite hot, beautiful bangs, with perfectly coiffed helmet head hair, nice slacks, and blouse, beautific smile, and miserable. Last we left Tiffany had exposed evil Ann, but Ann had gotten Tiffany’s distant dad anyway. A real grabbing of a tender area by a real pro, a cruel grifter who might separate Tiffany from her inheritance, and her father’s love. I think the other stuff about her so-called wished for Les or Gunther relationships are relatively unimportant, and in this arc will be basically plot devices if they come at all. She is a poor, little rich girl, who needs to get her personal mojo back. I hope she does and grows in the process. I don’t really care if she cannoodles with Les or GUnther.
I’m curious to see how this counts as “fat”- she actually has a pretty normal hourglass figure. It’s just not the “skinny cartoon character” body she used to have. She should at least have a gut or something if she was supposed to be seen as “fat”, like Bernice said she was.
My chance to develop a couple of subplots, before the Evans’s take us wherever: Gunther & Les have moved into the guest house. Tiff has bonded with Les in their vendettas with Ann Eiffel. Tiff spends some nights with Les in the guest house. This is very hard for Gunther to bear and he cries on Luann’s shoulder. Luann tells Tara who decides to spend one night in Gunther’s room (not intimately) to make Gunther look a little better. The next morning, Les is visibly distracted by Tara, which Tiff notices immediately and storms off. We wind up in the guest house with Les watching TV and Gunther on his computer most of the time.
WOO HOO! The Tiff arc is alive again! Well, we know a few things now… 1) Tiff is not as together as we thought; 2) Ms. Phelps did marry Mr. Fogarty (or someone named Fogarty… who else could it be…). I have t hope we may see that Mr. Fogarty again.
I have to hope that at least, “Ms.” Fogarty can be a sounding board for Tiff and not necessarily a fountain of advice. I don’t know if I can trust Fogarty’s advice at this point. Hopefully, Tiff can figure things out for herself. I trust she has that in her.
Seeing Mrs. Fogerty again has made me smile. I missed her. Tiffany’s new look is awesome btw!! I wish I was confident enough to wear skirts like that at my size.
Interesting contrast. Luann counseling a younger character and Tiffany being counseled by an older, always hot-to-trot, Margo Phelps-Fogarty. Come on, Margo, undo a couple of those top buttons and loosen up.
Tiffany is still a little overweight, probably a size 14. I’m about the same size as Tiffany and it’s uncomfortable to carry an extra 20 pounds. A leaner body feels better to live in 24/7.
Tiff is actually starting to look like herself alittle bit. Sure she’s heavier but you know what it actually fits her well. Plus shes wearing a style that really matching how she used to be which is a good sign :)
Were I GnK, I’d have a wall where I would layout the various arcs so I could graphically see and manage the strip’s progress to a unifying goal. Not that the goal is an end per se, but GnK are taking us with these arcs somewhere. The arcs are integrated towards that goal, and we have seen previous such integrating goals before.
The roly-poly Tiffany is still hot, but Greg is dressing her to emphasize her generous curves. That top she is wearing is way too short, but would be a lot better he she would bare her shoulders and offer a bit of cleavage.
I’ve followed “Luann” for many years now, but I must have missed when Ms. (or Miss) Phelps became Mrs. Fogarty! When did that happen? It may be explained above somewhere, but with 200+ comments at the present time, I don’t really want to go through them trying to find the answer.
Oh, can’t wait to see what kind of “progress” Tiffany is making.
We all know what the real problem is, right? Ann Eiffel has her father wrapped around her little finger. The question is, how long will it take for her father to open his eyes and see Ann for the evil woman she truly is?
Maybe it’s now time to promote Mrs. Fogarty from the gag-a-day comic character she used to be to a real character. She could actually turn out to be a good counselor yet too. ;)
Still love the funny table name tags meme though. :D
I’ve been waiting for the camera to pan over to Mr. Farrell’s yacht – where Ann Eiffel is likely working her best on the guy. If he is widowed or legitimately divorced, arguably he is entitled to the time of his life – whether it lasts or not. Tiff’s Dad took good care of Tiffany – maybe too much – and it is way time for Tiff to think about who she is and how to move forward with her life. I can’t believe how many Luann fans want the guillotine for Ann. This character provides a consistently hot visual and a sizzling personality – she even got Tara to buy lingerie! What kind of entertainment would we have if all the characters were nice people?
This is a general comment. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Paradoxical Commandments which apparently were first written as guide to help students find meaning in a difficult world, and from which other meaningful variants have since arisen.
Of the strips I read regularly I think that Fort Knox and Luann best exemplify the meanings of the Paradoxical Commandments, so I am putting this link at both sites:
I’m kinda over Tiff, I’d rather she was just written out. She served her purpose as a ballence to Luanns insecurities in high school but now that the girls are entering the working world, it’s time for Luann to let go of her old competitions (& gain new ones?) Speaking of which, how long has tiff been in therapy and NO ONE thought to suggest that the potentially competitive ex cheerleader join a sports team, start a buisness or find an outlet for that competitive edge other than eating?? It has to be cheaper then counseling at this point. As a side point, if Tiff has had her allowance halved and counseling doubled, she may be putting on weight for the very simple reason that she’s poor and eating fried top ramen and donuts cause that’s what she can afford now, like most college students. I doubt she has a kitchen, and moving back with daddy and his cooking to get her weight back seems like the greater evil. Don’t assume all weight gain is emotional.
@SISYPHOS: The jumbo notepad is because Tiffany is really upset and has lots of problems, even though she was ‘putting on a happy face’ and fooled the counselor momentarily into thinking she (T) was ok. And Tiffany’s weight gain is a symptom of all the mental anguish she is going through; her weight gain is NOT her major problem. Putting her on a diet won’t fix what ails her…
Would someone remind me why Tiffany sees a high school guidance counselor? Does Mrs. Fogarty now work as a counselor (not an academic advisor) at the university? I only vaguely remember there’s an explanation…

Okay, first of all it’s GOOD to see Tiffany again, even though she’s probably gonna end up with that Worthless Punk, Les.
Second, It looks like, Tiffany’s smiling facade on March 17th was just a “front.”
Third, What is Tiff going to do when College lets out for Summer Break? Stay on Campus the whole Summer?
Fourth, The “Lettuce Wrap” desk name plate. “Let Us Rap?” SERIOUSLY???
