Inspector Ishida is normally a crime-solving lion or some kind of big cat, but for this special guest cameo, he’s been turned into a fully human character, moved to the current century, and moved from Japan to the U.S. Here’s how he usually looks:
I’d like to see Usagi himself show up, and not in human form either. “Look, Sam, a rabbit.” “The way he wields that sword, Tracy, it’s best to call him a samurabbit.”
Let’s get serious for a moment; With the recent bombardment of guests stars do the boys not think sheriff Tracy is capable of carrying the strip that bears his name?
Stan Sakai’s Usagi Yojimbo is a wonderful series that’s been ongoing since the early 1980s. The Inspector Ishida stories are excellent, and in fact there’s a series-within-the-series running right now that features Ishida. Highly recommended!(Also, Stan Sakai is a helluva nice guy. I met him at the Baltimore Comic-Con several years ago.)
A short stopover in San Francisco PD, where it appears as though Detective Inspector Ishida has just received some intel (maybe from Grimm, as has been suggested?) regarding Sawtooth and his disguised train trip eastward to Tracyville. A phone call to Chief of Detectives Tracy in Tracyville seems in order here. Just a friendly tip among fellow LEOs….

Good morning™, west coasters!
That building in the background is the Transamerica Pyramid, so this is San Francisco.

Oh boy! Another crossover! And it remains possible that the Green Hornet hasn’t really left Tracyville, either.
Hail! Hail! The gang’s all here!

Between Tracy and Sawtooth, if Ishida becomes a major character in this story it could turn out to be a Battle of the Massive Chins.

“Ishida calling Sam…what? where did he go? Some secret rendezvous? Call out the guards! Sawtooth is on the loose!”

A mysterious poster, a surprise for Sam, and now an anthropomorphic triple-tribute. I gotta say, I’m very intrigued to see how all this ties together.

Tracy must be summering in the Alps, he certainly has been AWOL for a couple weeks.
