Like feeding our two at any point. Wilbur will inhale his food, then just kinda leeeeean over at Sparky in a very recognizable “…Yu gunna eat that?” fashion. Sparky does not appreciate this and usually leaves in disgust at her brother’s behavior. If I’m around and fast enough, I remove her food so she can finish it later, otherwise, Wilbur gets a second half-serving. After eleven years, I don’t think they’re going to change this dynamic any time soon.
Elvis is reminding me a little of DC here. Gotta gobble down those treats then see if he can’t hog his brother or meowme’s too.
And around here treat time is the most important time of the day. Sure the boys and Smokey get fed three times a day and can get insistent if their not getting fed on time. But if they don’t get their treats on time they pitch a tantrum. Same thing for the dogs, though at least the cats don’t try to “punish” you like the dogs do.
With my previous gang, Figaro would gently take treats from your hand and slowly munch them down like Lupin. Mozart would inhale treats and they’d better not still be in your hand at the time or you’d have to count your fingers to make sure they were all there. Tryfan and Nyssa were more typical treat eaters, not gobbling them down but taking their own sweet time either :)
Current two don’t eat treats. I’ve offered them but there was no real interest in them. They are weird …
Total change of subject… I was sitting outside and heard the bugs and frogs. Reminded me…. Should be seeing July Bug here real soon. He’s one of my favorites. The scarf and goggles. Totally cool.
my bentley loved dried tuna flakes. totally addicted. bogart was never really interested. he’d eat a couple from my hand sometimes, i think just to humor me.
Our guys always seem to be pairs of one voracious and one picky so we are always having to separate them at both meal and treats time. Most have been rescues of some kind but not all were strays at some point. One vet said with strays it is like their appetite on/off switch is permanently in the on position because all available food must be eaten as they can’t depend on food reappearing with any regularity. Which certainly explains why Mr. Avatar here will inhale anything even remotely food like and has had two close calls with rodent poisons snarfed up before we could stop him and the chocolate cake episode ( hubs insists the cats were deliberately trying to off the dog when they pushed the cake off the counter to him).
Good morning and happy Purrsday, orbsters and orbabies! Yum Yum sometimes inhales her treats and other times savours each one slowly. She occasionally enjoys catnip, but just goes to sleep when she is stoned on it (no change from her usual sleep habits).
On a different subject, Paul’s radiation treatments have been cancelled until he is seen by the ENT surgeon for removal of his left tonsil, where the cancer is believed to have originated.
On yet another subject, it’s election day here in Ontario, so Paul and I are off to vote in a couple of hours. My father unknowingly quoted Lazarus Long when he was a child and told me that there may not be anyone I want to vote FOR, but there is usually someone I will want to vote AGAINST. Every vote counts, so get out there, Ontarians!
Scooby frequently has to be reminded that the lovely tartar control greenies that he hoovers down don’t work unless he actually chews them. TD who did not know the wonder that are cat treats until he came to live with us does at least chew them. Only once, but he chews
It was quite late last night when I posted this: Reboot managed to get a tooth into a plastic bag and ripped off a strip of the silver sticky protector… and ate it. I was trying to catch him so I could get it out of his mouth, but I was too late. We’ll be watching the litter box closely for a couple of days and hope it just goes through. If not, then it’ll be off to the vet. Poor kitty. He tried to cough it up but couldn’t.
My Loki loves treats so much that I have to velcro the treat and food cabinet. If we forget to velcro the cabinet, he will chew through the treat bag. He’s also been known to chew through the plastic bin of treats as well.
I have 1 that is allergic so I do a quarter of a can each a day. The drawback is that no matter which pop top can I open the cats all think it is for them. If I open veggies for dinner they get so excited and dance around and serenade me, only to have their hopes dashed when they realize rutabaga came out of that can. Poor kitties.
I am sitting here eating my lunch as I read my comics, eyeing my treat, a Hostess Suzy Q. Before you waste your time telling me how bad these are, I don’t have them every day, maybe once a month and it’s not always the same thing. We ran in a 5k race last weekend and I ran last night for my workout, so there. And I will savor it like Lupin.
When this was just a pencil sketch, the Man read this and laughed and said, “This is just 100% our actual cats at treat time. Will other people find this one funny, not knowing them?” And I told him readers seem to know the boys pretty well, haha!!
I put out three sets of treats in an equilateral triangle for my two cats and the neighbor’s cat. My female, Colette, immediately jumped into the middle. “Back off, everybody. Be cool!” She took a moment to decide which was the best pile of treats, started on that one and then let the others eat.
Chirper = Elvis, gobble them down without tasting (although she may well taste them on the way back up…)Thumper = Lupin, eat them slowly and savor them.
This is why when we were doing a smidge of wet food, I had to guard Thumper’s dish with my life, because otherwise she wouldn’t get any.
One of ours tried to have a ‘treat’ of fresh poultry this afternoon. We found them both in the spare bedroom trying to get at an adult robin that was perched on the curtain rod.
After managing to wrestle both cats out of the room, we then had to pry the screen out of the window and herd the robin out the opening while 2 very angry felines yelled at us from the other side of the door.
They’re going to be going in there to try to find it for the next week, I expect. We’re bad cat parents , and probably won’t be forgiven until at least bedtime.
When I was visiting my dad,There always seemed to be a little black cat hanging about in the garden. I was missing my cat, and she was very friendly and adorable. I would buy her treats, long semi moist stick type of treats. She would charge down the garden path squealing, and chomp the treat from one end to the other, like Scooby Doo with a foot long sub. When I returned to Canada, we adopted our little panther in honour of her.

Lupin is a treat connoisseur. He savors the bouquet then rolls the treat around on his tongue to experience the full flavor.

Huh, I would have thought Lupin would be the quick eater. But the “I love them and I have no idea what they taste like” made me LOL.

Yum Yum’s the treat that I favor,
They are the treats that I savor,
Maybe chicken or cheese,
They almost make me feel pleased,
Even though I don’t know their flavor!
