I bought one large and two small jute bags a few months ago. Very useful. The amusing thing of course, is that shops in our state in India use thin cloth bags anyway. Plastic bags were banned a few years back.

Get a dog then you’ll have a use for all those bags cleaning up outside.

I use the plastic ones for trash and garbage. Started using cloth a year ago and still have plastic ones left.

I have been waging my private war against plastic bags for years by using reusable cloth grocery bags.

Kroger’s recent announcement made me extremely happy, and I hope that other stores follow suit.

I have about a dozen of them… are they in the car when I need them? Lets find out the next time I go to the grocery store…..

I always have a tightly folded cloth bag in my hand bag, just in case.

We have about 40 re-usable bags, five are insulated. We have bags in the car, the van and in a basket next to the door.

Then ask for paper.

I have far more uses for paper bags than plastic.

Including lining my kitchen trash can.

Got some really nice ones with hard bottoms, they hold my wife’s wool, our travel Keurig (don’t get me started on motel coffee) and the rest are all tossed in a U-Haul box in the garage. The plastic bags get used up during yard sale season. Considering all the foofaraw about paper, none of the stores in our region have them.

I use them for packaging material when shipping out my items that I sell on ebay under my I’d of micromos.

I reuse double-bagged paper bags until they get too bad and also reusable cloth. Would like to find washable cloth with removable hard bottom. Any ideas?

All this stuff is too troublesome, I just grab one and stuff the rest into it and toss it in the trash. I guess that makes me a bad person.

Arlo, that one tote bag wouldn’t begin to hold all those groceries anyhow!

Pet peeve: The trouble with private bags is that they take so long for the baggers (both the shoppers & store baggers) to load them because they’re trying to figure out how to fit all the shoppers stuff into what they’ve brought! Making everyone behind them wait unnecessarily!

What’s wrong with paper bags. Trees is a crop. Manageable and renewable!

If all stores stopped offering bags people would not forget their own.

In the drugstore or hardware store I usually tell the checkout clerk that I don’t need a bag. But the first time I did that and handed the empty bag back to the clerk, she wadded it up and threw it in her wastebasket. Now I make sure they understand that I’m trying to SAVE the bag for when it’s needed.

For small items I consider that Tasch is German for both bag and pocket.

I have been using the same 2 big canvas bags for about 25 years. If they aren’t in the car, I don’t stop at the store.

Hemp is typically ready to harvest in four months, and per acre it produces four times as much paper as trees, which take many years to reach maturity for harvest.

Anyone consider brokering a contract with the supermarket chains to supply hemp grocery totes..?

I have about 20 totes. Whenever I go to Petco to buy cat food, they frequently give tote bags if you donate $10 or more and since I always donate $20, I get lots of cute kitty and puppy tote bags for shopping.

I use reusable bags for grocs, sometimes stuff a plastic one in my pocket in a pinch for the same.. Most places charge 5c for a plastic bag so when I’m at a store that offers a plastic bag gratis for my purchase, I take it. It will be used eventually, for my garbage. As a single guy, I don’t make that much trash. One every 2-3 weeks.

I keep at least one insulated beg in the trunk of my car.
