“In the early colonial period, the Caribs had a reputation as warriors who raided neighboring islands. It was claimed that they practiced cannibalism.4 According to the Spanish conquistadores, the Carib Indians were cannibals who regularly ate roasted human flesh.” – Wikipedia
As a teacher, I believe that the school year should start directly after New Year’s Day and end the day before Halloween. No work gets done in November (too many holidays and visiting relatives) or December (half of it’s gone to midwinter break). The Holidays in the June-August don’t take up that much time and (4th of July being usually a one day thing, at least in the places i’ve lived) can easily be incorporated into the curriculum.
That is pretty much my argument as well about everyone wanting Autumn to be here already, including Starbucks. “Pretty soon, we will be drinking hot chocolate, eating fruitcake and candy canes, and exchanging Christmas gifts while watching the fireworks of the 4th ofJuly.”

Same root for the word “buccaneer”, originally meaning one who barbecues. (Amer. Herit. Dict. 4th Ed.)

Since PETA considers an animal equal to a human, that would mean that juicy steak is also cannibalism… MMMM…GOOD.
