Makes me wonder now… did people ever try writing with a porcupine quill dipped into an inkwell?

If you’re going to use a quill, the left wing of a goose is the best source. Well, as long as you’re right-handed, of course.

Quill pens were the reason you really had to be right-handed. Trying to write left-handed with a quill is just about impossible, unless you write upside down, ala President Obama.

Quill used to be the boyfriend of Luann.

It takes a long time to write with a quill. I wonder how long it took Adam Hall (Elleston Trevor) to write The Quiller Memorandum?

That Ain’t the way I heared it Jonhny…I can remember when they could count votes in an election…..

Between the quills, and modern roller-ball pens, a lot of other writing tools became popular – fountain pens, cartridge pens, erasable ink ball-points. But, for writing outside in freezing temperatures, or in the rain – nothing works better than a pencil (except maybe a crayon.)

I wanted Earl to mention how they were kept sharp – with a penknife. That is how they got the name.

The first ball point was invented in 1895. Dipping quills were replaced with dipping steel tip pens.

Obviously the kid never read or watched Harry Potter.
