The days before digital cameras were less dangerous than after, but there was still a danger of your photos falling into the wrong hands if you weren’t careful.
Argo and Janis simply and completely love each other, nothing else matters. I chose to believe the pictures were of Argo enjoying a day on the lake in his sail boat
Well, we still have Lake Wobegon Days – but She made me destroy the Polaroids a year or two ago (getting to the age where She worries about what the kids will find when we’re gone, don’t ya know).
And anyone who would it wasn’t Janis hasn’t been paying attention. He wanted to spare her the humiliation of knowing others had seen them and, no doubt, himself from paying the price of knowing……..).
And on a somewhat related note – Chris Theile is an amazing musician – but not so much as a radio host; it ain’t A Prairie Home Companion without Garrison.
boy would I love to have a wood burning fireplace again. Instead of a useless Gas one. I have a ton of dead ash trees in my backyard. :( Wood fires are a lot more romantic too. :-)
Unlikely that the photos were Polaroids. They tended to fade away. The company I worked for switched to 35mm to have photos which would last. But, developing film and matching the photos to files was cumbersome, so the company bought digital cameras. We were given the cameras on a Friday. Over the weekend, one of the guys and his wife decided to test the new equipment. He forgot to clear the camera buffer. The following Monday, all was revealed on the company server.
Having left a couple of photos in my favorite Bible [in the Song of Solomon] only to have them revealed when a pastor decided to use a verse from the very chapter where 1 was filed; let us say my wife of 40+ years went through and purged all the pics from our early marital days; with a good sense of humor about it I might add. Just referencing it further 1 pic was at Chapter 2 vs 16; the other at Chapter 6 verse 3.
Perhaps Gene’s restaurant is open for the holidays and they cannot come to visit and for whatever reason they don’t/can’t travel to Gene’s. Did they used to come to visit for the holidays?

I’ll bet those were amazing pictures. He certainly got rid of them fast enough.

Let’s see. That was published some 33 years ago. This relates back to the early days of publication.
Does anyone have any A&J strips from 1985?

This may be a CIDU! Why would Arlo keep them in Lake Wobegon Days? Puzzling…

I enjoyed the book, but I liked his live performances better.

I wonder if they made copies before returning the Polaroids.

Me thinks the point is Arlo doesn’t want Janis to know that other people saw the pictures.

ALL the Polaroids Arlo took were of Janis nude. He was never interested in any other woman.
