While Frank’s comment at the end is about as close as I (and presumably more than a few others) would like to see this strip get to anything even remotely resembling social commentary (and the inevitably exasperating partisan political divide), I’ve gotta admit, that was pretty funny…..
Maybe Luann will become an actor. Certainly there are indications of talent. Luann could play a role where she becomes interested in somebody like Jonah – and either Luann reels him in – or eventually gives up on him. Of course this already happened with Luann & Quill.
We have stepped off the cartoon conveyor belt to pause at a generic stop. Who Luann is talking to has no meaning, Frank is trying to read an actual book, with real pages, and Nancy is just scenery, an audience for Luann’s rant.
…classes, homework job… there should be some stress; stress means you are working and likely doing some things right. Tiffany doesn’t ever seem to have any of this kind of stress and she’s about to lose about half of the job that she doesn’t do much of anyway. Another Tiffany makeover is in store.
Sunday foible, perfectly, absolutely SPOT-ON normal 19-20 young woman. If she was depressed and not like this, that would be a time to be worried, and keep that in mind with your kids, grandkids, friends, and the kids should keep that in mind. If their usually nutty normal friends change overnight then alarm bells should sound.
Back in the day, we’d never have phone conversations like that within ear shot of our parents. Remember stretching the phone cord as far as it would reach to go around a corner or into a closet for a little privacy? Phone privacy… something else kids today wouldn’t understand.

In reference to panel #5: Yes, it’s stressful. But it will all be worth it in the end, Luann.

In reference to panel #5: I wonder what would happen if Tiff pulled her own hair like that. Would the helmet break or spring back into position?

Wait… People use their smart phones to make phone calls? When did this start happening? I’m always out of the loop.

Don’t get me started on politics! I still remember the “Global Cooling” warnings from the 70s.

I’m waiting for the one the day AFTER Luann gives it up. Such angst! Poor Jack!

Quill was right. Luann doesn’t need to take drama courses. She’s a natural-born drama queen!

Just a wee bit manic. Not so’s you’d notice now, mind you, but just a wee bit.

sigh. Weather still doesn’t equate to climate, whether you’re talking about literal weather and climate or the “weather” and “climate” of our moods.

What is Greg doing to Sunday Luann? Regressing her back to age 14? She’s been in college for who-knows-how-many years now. This is weird.
(Frank’s notion of “climate” is weird, too.)
