Pearl needs to have a talk with Earl or simply teach Nelson a new prayer.

I personally don’t think the Man would enjoy that last part.

Does the Lord use the same procedure for deciding who gets into heaven?

It’s not a bad thing that Earl didn’t teach Nelson the second half of that little prayer. As a kid I found it a bit scary, referencing my possible death. Made me a bit scared of going to sleep!

Not everyone is old enough to know that version. The current version says, “catch a tiger by the toe.”

I was thinking the same thing; possibly a different cartoon, or a totally different ’prayer" especially this being MLK holiday. I enjoy Pickles; and I hope to continue reading the series. First time I ever felt a need for a comment.

Not everyone is old enough to have heard the racists poem that is here referred to.

My dad’s version was, “Now I lay me down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, just cover my face with a hot pancake.” He said if God didn’t have a sense of humor, there’d be no human race.
