No candy this year, like last year my wife is trying to lose weight. I don’t think she will be able to until she changes jobs after tax season. Back to corporate finance.
My husband and I will be going out to dinner (at lunchtime) on Saturday in order to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We’re economical and it’s a bear to try to go out to dinner on Valentine’s Day. We love each other every day! :)
In 21 years this is the first we were not together :-( I had a business trip. She made out reasonably well though, a dozen red roses today and dinner coming up on Saturday. I love my girl!
We go out to eat cheap any way, whenever we go. Ikea has a lovely cafeteria. Local Wendys employees know us well also. The reasonably priced (cheap) Asian buffet we go on Sunday nights was having a special dinner. We kept dithering this year and by the time we were to decide it was too late to cook and too late to go out – Chinese takeout it was.
In our younger days we would make gifts for each for Valentines Day. Stopped about 15 years ago as we had both run out of ideas. He knows, after almost 50 years together – 39 of the married – that he better not waste money on a gift for me or the gift will be returned in anger.
It is the everyday that matters, not a holiday, even if it goes back centuries.

I would go out to dinner and buy candy except my wife is down in southern California and I’m stuck up in the snow.

Is there any food on those plates? All I see is green stuff.

We don’t do Valentine’s Day at all……..our romantic holiday is Groundhog Day. It’s a story that goes back 60 years.

Yes and it will still be in a heart shaped box along with a sappy St. Valentines Day card. There’s just no getting around it. :o)

Friday candy ’cause one can buy high end candy a WHOLE lot cheaper Friday a.m.!

We never go out to eat on the Big Days. A week before Mother’s Day, or a week after Valentine’s. The traffic – and the tariff – is too high otherwise.

Cheap Candy Days…Day after Valentine’s, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. Know “when” to stock up!

And when she gets her box of candy on Friday Arlo will get some sugar. ;-)

Sounds like revenge gifting

I wonder if “My Box of Candy” is code for something else, because Arlo seems awfully anxious to give it to her.

Yes! I wait for the Valentine candy to be 1/2 off or more before purchasing!

rather do the romantic effort on our personal holidays, birthdays, anniversaries (wedding, engagement, first date) than the hallmark days
