At age 50 about 50% of men begin to experience prostate problems. Mostly benign enlargement. That percentage increases by about 1% per year. See your doctor, proctologist and get tested (simple blood test) because if it is prostate cancer you can be cured.
(Female) Since I was a child I am up about every 2 hours during the night. When I was younger I had a bed wetting problem and they would come and wake me (which means my poor parents were up several times a night also) every few hours to prevent “accidents”. I now just wake and need to go all night. As I have aged I have the added problem of not being able to sleep on right knee or my back for any extended period of time so I often wake in pain between the bathroom wakeups.
Since we go to bed late (husband works at night online and I am a owl anyway) I am barely in bed by 4 am and don’t fall asleep until 5 am – sometimes later. (Hence why I am on this group at 2:23 am posting, while waiting for husband to join me in the kitchen.)

If your circadian cycle is out of phase with your goal, you’re gonna have a tough time.

Strange as it might seem it is EXACTLY 442 am right now for me. My alarm goes off at 0500. I’ve been awake since 0407.

Is Arlo going to put “sleep through the night without a bathroom break” on his bucket list?

Definition of an “all-nighter” changes from when you’re 19, Arlo.

My clock starts beeping at 4:42, so by my day, he made it! (overshot 4:40 when setting it and didn’t want to cycle it through again).

I hate when that happens.

As long as I drink nothing after 5 PM, I can sleep through the night.

At my age it’s nice to still have regular bowel movements. But why did my body clock have to shift the time to 4 AM?

I’m 66 and sleep like a baby…I’m up every two hours

The bottom line is, don’t push your luck. Failing to get up in the middle of the night is far worse than having to get up in the middle of the night.

Had a 440 once. Piece of junk, always burning up spark plug cables.

I feel for you Arlo! I usually see the clock at 2 and 4 am…then up for the day at 5:30a.

That’s it. If I can’t find the hidden camera in the bedroom I’m going to turn off the router when I go to bed. Enough spying.

That glass of water by the clock might be the problem.

Typically I have to pee about 3 times a night. At least one of those times I make it to the bathroom! ;-}

Hey, Arlo. I can relate. My dog now counts on my nocturnal porcelain inspections. She uses those as a way to go outside.

He’s lucky. He got an hour more sleep than I typically get before I have to conduct a plumbing inspection.

If people shrink, as they ease into their golden years, why does the bladder precede us?

The not fatal normal expansion of the prostate gland. Presses on the bladder. There are medications for that, Arlo.
