Seriously, how does the Woman know Baba’s name? When has that been mentioned? I know she knows Burt, but even Trevor’s Woman referred to her only as ‘that old cat from Quinn Farms’ (IIRC).♥

Did that for the doggies on Saturday. They loved it.

DIY beach days are even better than the real thing.

I empathise with the Woman, any significant time outdoors requires me to slather on the sunscreen too. Summertime in the PNW I can start to burn in 10-15 minutes :(

Basically, cats are indeed sunbathing beach bums.

Unfortunately, cats have a different reason to appreciate sand than you or I.

One of my favorite baby album photos is of chubby 1 yr old me in the kiddy pool with our Cocker puppy splashing about as well. This was a two compartment pool consisting of a metal frame with waxed tarp liner. One side was a sandbox and the other was water. No such thing as inflatable plastic in 1947. Backyard beach was the way to rock then too.

The Toddler has a snorkel mask! Wonder if he has the same adventures as the little girl in the Stone Soup strip?

OH MY CAT! Nana Mow Mow just did me in! I love Tommy’s water wings! I see the Woman and I have the same type of skin and tan the same way (I have 2 skin tones in summer; snowman or lovster). And Pucky’s chart is 100% accurate (at least pertaining to the beaches around here).

And this way, they don’t have to worry about sharks.

Thanks to all the sharp-eyed commenters here! First time around, I missed Baba’s swim cap, Tommy’s water wings, Puck’s little white throat patch, and Elvis’ lifeguard whistle. I like to open the image in a 2nd window and then go back and forth between it and the comments – what a lot to appreciate! The boys inside on their fluffy beach towels in the sun spots are a prime example of cats enjoying the moment.

I love this. When my son was little, I set up a kiddie pool in the back yard & spent more time in it than he did. My ex was so embarrassed!

It’s all so overwhelmingly cute! I can’t decide which is cuter, Puck with his white patch and toe-beans or Toddler’s Nana Mow Mow! Or Tommy’s water wings! Or the lovely floral print on Baba Mouse’s suit! Or… it just goes on and on!

Ugh, no kidding about the cigarette butts. It’s why I gave up on a certain lake I used to live near.

I took two of my cats to the beach. The tabby stayed in his cage in the shade. The Siamese scrambled up a 100-ft. bluff and spent an hour squinting down at me, telling me how stupid it was to be out in the sun. After an hour, we were all ready to go home.

The humans and the kitties need to travel south to North Carolina’s coast. No rocks, almost no glass and cig butts, and lots and lots of soft fun sand and water.

I just popped in to thank Georgia for giving us this truly wonderful place to spend some quality time. I cannot think of a single strip that has not at least brought a smile to my lips.

She has given life to this wonderful family not only on paper, but in our imaginations. We can see our friends long after we scroll on to the next item on the screen. They sometimes come into our minds during our day. They truly do live beyond the confines of GC. We wonder and dream of them, compare them to other friends, imagine what they would do in this or that situation. They have become a part of our daily lives.

Georgia, you truly are a mistress of your craft.

Panels 4 & 5 are making me giggle. Especially the chyrons. Because I’m the same way. I have literally gotten sunburned whiled crossing the street, and also while sitting under an umbrella (with an SPF 50 rating) with SPF 30 sunscreen.

All summer I wear a large hat with a brim that goes past my shoulders. I have to because I have been getting more and more allergic and the last thing I need is an allergy to sun screen. I’ve already gotten so allergic to metals that I had to stop wearing all jewelry including my wedding and engagement rings because I kept breaking out wherever metal touched me. Luckily, the metal part of my glasses frames is coated and I can still wear them.
