We Prius drivers don’t need to pass. Just drive at the posted limit and let the others pass and cruise on by up the road while they are getting their tickets for passing in a no passing zone or just for exceeding the limit even more after they passed us.

Come to No VA and watch all the hybrids zooming past. Many buy hybrids for the HOV exemption not gas mileage.

Funny, I get passed by hybrids and e-vehicles all the time on the 417, then they wonder why they don’t get the distance they expect!

I just got a ticket for driving five miles under the speed limit in the left lane. Go figure.

Testosterone! On the highway I took to get to work, the majority of morning rush hour speedsters were women.

I hope Mr. Mallett has to update this for Teslas in the near future. The Tesla 3 provides a Dr. Frankenstein sized electric jolt of testosterone on steroids. Still, please drive the speed limit, watch for bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrians.

My Prius isn’t a sports car, but when i step on it, it goes.

Remember, it may only have a small four-cylinder engine, but it also has an electric motor.

And both are hooked into the same transition. Plenty of power.

Alabama just passed a law making it illegal to drive in the left lane for more than 1-1/2 miles without passing another vehicle. Meant to prevent slowpokes from causing road rage by blocking the passing lane.

Owned a couple of Prius and the mileage was great. Now we have an all electric Leaf and the get up and go is great in that car. It can zoom! But the nice thing is, we put on driver assist and take it easy.

Funny thing is that when I am riding my bike, I find the Prius drivers to be the most aggressive toward me. I guess they just don’t like a more efficient vehicle on their roads.

    Two corny car bits:

Bad guy escapes at high speed. Our two heroes follow in their car. One says: Hurry up! He’s getting away! The other says: Yo! we’re in a Prius. It will take a week to get to 60.

One guys says: Smart Cars have lots of room for two.Other says: Yeah. You and your ego.

I owned a 1991 Jaguar XJ-12 for about 20 years. Due to carrying a full size spare this car had twin tanks with separate filler caps on either side of the vehicle. Never had a problem, gasoline in one tank and petrol in the other. Could not get a right hand drive imported to the states so we had to have it based at our Canadian vacation (now permanent) home. Great car.

We test drove several hybrids before we bought our Prius. We bought it because it was the only one with enough get-up-and-go to achieve freeway speeds before reaching the end of the on-ramp. And yes, my peppy Prius passed others more than once.

I had a friend with a ’Vette who bragged that he could pass anything on the road.

He was nearly correct – he could indeed pass anything – except a gas station.

Another old saw: Driver pulls his 1957 Cadillac up to the pump and attendant plugs in the gas nozzle. A few minutes later, he says to the driver: Would you mind cutting off the engine? The pump can’t keep up.

Driving our Prius while coming back from shopping 40 miles away (where they actually have useful stores), we got behind a hay-rake. Passed it. Then we got behind an old dude in a brand new car driving 45. Passed that. Then a old dude in a car w/ AZ plates going “up to” the limit, except uphill or in curves. Passed it too (while going uphill and around a curve… in a passing lane). Also passed someone who was apparently just out looking at scenery, also in a passing lane. Finally, as we pulled into the access road for our tiny community, the small car pulling the small travel trailer who had been slowing everybody down for a few miles pulled into the same road ahead of us. We know that road, so we looked ahead at a spot that allows us to see around what will become a blind corner when you get there: Nobody coming, so we passed the dude pulling the trailer in that blind corner. The look he gave us was precious: Mouth open, big eyes…

I’d feel worse about picking on Prius owners, except that quite possibly the only reason I don’t own a Prius myself is that the last time I was in a position to buy one, I bought my Pontiac Vibe because, among other things, it had the perfect ratio of small car to enough cargo space to throw a bicycle into without taking things apart.

In other words, I was too much of a Prius guy to go with the Prius.

I laughed at this one… I’m a prius driver… and I hit the gas at stoplights and pass all the SUV’s while they’re gaining their speed. Constantly passing people who love to drive 10 miles below the speed limit.
