Where are they going to put an air mattress on that tiny boat? How is anyone going to be able to get away from the heat of a hibachi on that tiny boat? In the meantime, I notice that Fred has developed the Andy Capp cigarette/lip. Stan is probably an avatar for any person that ever played music on the lake that was just outside Lynn Johnston’s studio in 1990.

Panel 3 shows that the parents are not exactly thrilled by the alleged music that is probably scaring off any fish…

I hope that boom-box doesn’t “accidentally” get knocked overboard.

What type of music is “Thump thumpa boom” supposed to represent?

And obnoxious, much like the guy along side of you at the traffic light with theater speakers in his back window.

I live in Florida….we go boating once a week and enjoy photographing shore birds, manatees and dolphins. There are always some people who will be out there blasting music, scaring away the fish for those fishing and the birds for us or flying at top speed through “No Wake” Zones which endanger our manatees. I will never understand why they don’t slow down, be quiet and tune into the paradise they are in.

And in today’s “music” you DON’T want to understand what they’re saying.

Hibachi grills. Good in theory. Found a few chunks of rust in parents’ garage while cleaning it out. Realized it had been their hibachi grill. To get rid of one, all you had to do was set it outside for a year, and it would have rusted away to nothing.

Let’s hope they don’t catch rock fish; those things are bottom dwellers (in order to escape the loud music).

Stan appears to be a chip off dad, and mom hasn’t spoken yet. Maybe she’s waiting her turn.

There’s nothing wrong with a little quiet music. It’s when it is loud enough to “entertain” the neighbors that it gets bad. We lived in our RV for a couple of years and found that most seniors are pretty good about keeping the “tunes” turned down, but the kids up to about 30 were not only insistent, but downright obnoxious about playing their music very loud.

When you jack up the sound too loud all you can really tell is the bass.

@crbrior, I had neighbors that played music so loudly that all you could hear was the bass (booma booma boom boom). Dishes rattled, pictures shook. But around 11oclock they turned the music way down. Also if I was sitting on the porch when showed up, they would turn the music down in their car. I really could not complain about them too much. They’ve moved now. Miss them.

Remember when our parent didn’t like our music (rock n roll). I know how they must have felt. This “rap” music…. Oh Lord.

Do some research on Rock bands from the 60s, 70s,80s, etc. A lot of the band members are old Geezers wearing expensive hearing aids and saying Eh? Whazat?

I live on the shore of a small lake that has about 135 cabins. Only 12 of us are year-round residents. People always ask why we’re never home on the weekends… It’s the noise from the boats, the music distorting over the water, worst of all, the seadoos doing endless circles in front of our place (why not in front of their own cabin?). We have kayaks, and it’s heaven on earth to paddle out on a Monday morning and listen to the loons.
