In all reality , P4, Look , I’ll call your bluff Tiki Ballard is not a friend of yours .You hustled his case like the ambulance chaser you are. See you in court counselor!
P1, This might be just a small-time government agency but they operate like the big boys.
P2, And I’m thinking the Fleming’s already offered a solution and Tiki now has a legal Milford address so let’s get back to Milford CC. Kaylie is waiting!
I foresee a winner take all, no DQ, come as you are cage match at the Milford Armory as Herc the Mauler leaves his VIP booth at Subwich, and takes on Hadley the Harasser. Hairy Hercules and Beau Dandy will manage these two, uh, contestants. Your referee is Bob Kazinski.
Establishing a precedent? I thought they had a precedent. As in, YOU HAVE TO LIVE IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. And having only the kid move in with another family temporarily does not count!
His response should be, okay, let’s treat him like an individual. He does not live in Milford. The bullies at his old school are gone. He wants to go to Milford because he wants to play football there. He is trying a new tactic to cheat the system. DENIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless that mug was made by his 5 year old kid, that is the crappiest lettering job I’ve ever seen. Again, I’M RIGHT HERE, and my rates are very reasonable!
So School Board Woman is worried that hordes of nonresidents are just dying to go to Milford High? And that hundreds of Milford families are willing to have strange kids live with them to make it happen?
“Here’s what I’m thinking, Mr. Ballard. Why don’t you stop thinking of your job as determining the best and fairest set of rules for your school district and then making sure everyone follows those rules regardless of their status, and instead realizing what it really is: a means to grease the skids for people with enough power and influence to make life unpleasant for you if you don’t let them do what they want? Don’t worry, you won’t have to actually let anyone else bend the rules like this in the future, unless they also have a friend who’s a bored high-powered lawyer. Just do this one thing this one time and all your problems go away, probably!”
Is that a fist pump of happiness in panel 3 or a fist of I’m going to smash your face? by his expression and the fist pump, it looks like he’s happy to me. I’m confused. does someone have a handle on what’s going on here?
Well, now since Tiki and his dimwitted mom (must be where the sister gets it from) have brought a lawyer into this, maybe Ballard will sic the school district’s general counsel on HvB herself. She sure seems sure of herself, while she casually sips coffee out of a ‘Gil’ mug. Time to knock that smug look off her face and send her and washed-up NBA player back to wherever they came from, which would be Chicago, I guess.
P1 – So the School Board’s mission statement must read something like, “avoid setting any precedents”. So their purpose is….?
P2 – I’m disappointed. Hadley learned that Tiki pulled a fast one last year, and is pulling another this year. And she’s trying to force the School Board into accepting him anyway. There surely isn’t any good “moral of the story” coming out of this one.
P3 – I cannot decide on this one. Is he furious, or elated? It could go either way.
And speaking of elated, you should be elated that today’s issue of Mopped Up Thorp is online: https://moppedupthorp.wordpress.com/

“Let’s not do any of this out in the open, where fairness, actual justice, or law might get involved. That wouldn’t really help my case … "

You have to be a star to have your first name on your cup. It’s in Gil’s contract that he has Mug Naming Rights.
