Any day that starts with being wakened is gonna be worse than one where you just wake up refreshed and then start the day. Though I’d rather have someone wake me like that than have the Alarm Clock Demon yell at me.
I used to dream I was sleeping in strange places, like the open market, in a church (boy those benches are hard, but a dozen dream-blankets helped) or on the floor in a lecture room. When I would tell my friend, the reply would be, “Gosh, how tired ARE you?”
I read somewhere that the sandman was originally a character that was used to scare children into going to sleep. They were told that, if they didn’t close their eyes, the Sandman would come and put sand in their eyes.
I hate those dreams were you can’t sleep all night and the alarm off. However, the absolute worse are the one were you dream you went to work, or in Calvin’s case he spent all day at school.
I don’t have that problem. I normally get up at 5 AM, work out, go for a 4-mile walk, read news and comics on the computer then shave, shower and get to work. By 10 PM I can hardly stay awake. I sit on the bed and the time between when I fall asleep and my head hits the pillow is a couple of seconds.
What I do suffer from is that if I am up to 1 AM, I still get up at 5 AM! Also, sometimes, I will get up about 3 AM with an exceptionally creative (and rarely worrying) thought. If I don’t get up and deal with it, I won’t get back to sleep.
At least it wasn’t the one where I’m back in high school and can’t remember my locker combination when the head cheerleader walks up and says, “No pants, huh?”
When you suffer from allergies, sometimes this can happen for real.Often when I’m still not asleep yet and it’s 1:30 AM, this strip comes into my mind.
A six year old would sleep like a baby. All that exhaustion from nonstop tactics and play would take its toll at night. I wonder why we adults dont get that quality of sleep.

The problem with grownups, Calvin, is that they want you to go to sleep when you’re not tired and want you to get up when you’re completely zonked.;-D

My sympathy. Used to work various shifts as a nurse, on rare occasions worked all three in one week. Really messes up the sleep.
