Further comments on Friday the 13th weddings, Ruth and Billy Graham were married on a Friday the 13 the in August. They lasted 34 years. We were married for 40 years last July. It has to be a good luck day.
Poor Elvis! Nana is trying to control his behavior, his housemate is calling him a jerk, his baby girl has abandoned him for the person who is verbally swatting him down, and his woman isn’t protecting him from her. He’s having such a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad, day! (With thanks to Judith Viorst for that most descriptive phrase!)
Poor Elvis he is so jealous ., in order to get some attention he must show that he is the alpha in the house..look at the claws…but the nana is always 1 step ahead of him and he is not happy.
I feel like Elvis always gets the stick end of the tuna-flavored lollypop whenever the Woman’s relatives come to visit. Remember her sister and the picture of baby Elvis as a pirate ballerina?
My cat named Tugger used to jump into anyone’s purse and root around. Back in the days when people smoked cigarettes, he would take them out of the pack and stuff them under furniture. When cleaning I would find all kinds of things he would hide. He was a Maine Coon and very smart.
Seriously Folks, this is the first time I’ve seen purse and handbag referred to as separate items. I always thought they were different words for the same item. I sense a deficiency in my education!
Ember is not whatever the feline equivalent of a “people person” is. She’s a “My People” person/cat, but not a people person/cat in general. She even hides from the cleaning lady, who brings her treats (although I suspect Ember may simply be intimidated by the language barrier; Yaneth was born in El Salvador and Spanish is her primary language).
When my mother came to visit, however, Ember was more than happy to seek out skritches … much to the dismay of my MIL, who had not won her favor after several visits, whereas this was the first time my mother had ever met Ember.
Enrico is now in a foster home. I miss him, and I’m a little worried because the foster has both an elderly cat (a good thing) and a … dog.
When we left him at the shelter where the foster was going to pick him up that afternoon, he gave me such a look as I left. I now understand how easy it is to become a “crazy cat person” with far too many cats in the house. Sigh.
I’m loving this arc, having long wondered how the Boys got along with their Grandpeople. Almost a shame we probably won’t see them “meet” Georgia’s grandmother, since she’s the inspiration for Freddie (the Old Woman who hangs around in the attic with her lifetime’s worth of cats).
Elvis, Nana’s had QUITE a bit of practice spotting shenanigans brewing, what with her own kids and cats. I wonder if she has her sweet little cat yet in the newspaper timeline? (If you’ve read the Shelter Cats Special, Georgia’s mother is the one who adopted the lil’ Siamese kitten.)
A Dang Yankee, here. To my knowledge, there was coin purse, clutch, purse, hand bag, shoulder bag. For the men, it was billfold, wallet, biker or truckers wallet. Billfolds are bi-fold, or tri-fold. Wallets are longer, keeping the bills flat, with a series of slots on one side for business or credit cards. I like the flat wallets, because a billfold is bad for your hip. And I can slip it in either jacket or front pants pocket.
I am so happy! Rosie has been understandably reserved/out of sorts since returning from the vet/dentist yesterday. She wandered into my office a little while ago for some petting and words of encouragement/adoration. She turned around, ran out into the hall, pounced on her favorite toy and ran down the stairs with it in her mouth. What a relief.

I hate to disagree with Nana, but Elvis is not a devil cat. That would not be dignified, and Elvis is always dignified. Even when he’s not!

I don’t like Nana. There I said it. How many people does Elvis want to play with?? It is a small and select group. I <3 Elvis!

the impressive part is not The Nana knowing the “when” of the jerkiness (which seems to be “always”).the impressive part is she knows the “how”!

Elvis is shocked The Nana knows he is at her purse despite her looking the other way.
Elvis seems to know The Nana is looking the other way while he is looking the other way.
