Our nation is getting precisely the politics it deserves. The attitude expressed in the strip is part and parcel of that. Attending to the country’s good is not somebody else’s job.
I can’t relate to the contemporary pejorative connotations popularly ascribed to the word “politics.” And I disagree with Merriam-Webster’s etymology tracing it to the Greek, politikos. I would contend, it’s more closely related to the Greek, polis, or city, which the ancient Greeks understood as a geographical collection of free people aligned by similar attitudes toward self-governance.
To me, politics is a good thing; it’s people choosing to make informed decisions about policy, about how they’ll conduct themselves and their affairs in relationship to everyone and everything around them. Politics is living life deliberately — living with intent and rules, not happenstance.
Folks who work Civil Service for the government do it for what they can do FOR people and the country. “Politicians” go into government for what they can do TO the country. (And of course, FOR THEMSELVES.)

Three male bodies are brought into the morgue with wide smiles on their cold dead faces
The detective calls the coroner to get more details.
The coroner replies " The first guy, 85 years old. Texas oil tycoon. Was making love to his 25 year old mistress when he had a massive coronary. "
Detective says " That makes sense. What about the next guy "
Coroner says * 25 years old from Vegas. Won the jackpot on the slots. Spent it all on old single malt scotch. Died of acute alcohol poisoning "
Detective says " I can understand why he’s smiling What about the last guy? "
Coroner replies " 72 years old. President of the US. Hit by lightening on the golf course. "
Detective asks " Why would he be smiling ? "
Coroner " He thought someone was taking his picture "

I gave up doing crossword puzzles on paper years ago in favor of doing them online. Much easier and you never have to erase.

Legal Fraud is an oxymoron. If it is legal it is not fraud. If it is fraud it is not legal. A lot of what current politicians do is not legal at all.
