Satchel Paige said don’t look back, something might be gaining on you. Enzo Ferrari said what’s behind you doesn’t matter. I totally agree, but something doesn’t feel right. Each uttered his respective quote a while ago. If we didn’t look back, we would never have known they said those things and we’d have to make each one up all over again, and we might not come up with something quite as good.
I really dislike looking back, myself — there’s a lot of embarrassing stuff going on back there, and so much possibility ahead. But mostly I don’t like looking any one direction exclusively. Frontward, backward, sideways. You gotta look around or you miss stuff.
Also, I can’t help it. I don’t have the best attention span.
