Lo and behold, Ripley’s posted the address of that eating establishment in the Mile-High City to which you could write a review after learning of its factoid.

In the “Ceremony of Quit Rents” a reed was also involved. The blunt knife must not cut a reed that was pressed upon it, and after notches were cut in the reed by the sharp knife, the sharp knife was used to split the reed down the middle, with each of the two parties taking half of the reed as a receipt / proof of payment. Each horseshoe had holes for 10 nails. I’m not sure why there were six horseshoes (couple of spares?). I think the 61st nail was made from a different metal, don’t know the significance of that…

Just don’t tell the waiter that you want a stupid question. I wouldn’t want my waiter asking me a stupid question even if it was free.

I’ll bet one of those stupid questions was, “Wasn’t there a song about this place by DNA and Suzanne Vega?”

Now I want to go to Denver, stop by Tom’s, and order no food. Just ask a bunch of stupid questions and leave a handsome tip!
