That wouldn’t keep me from getting up. My cat is more than happy to allow me to scoop her up on my arm. Or I can just put her up on my shoulder, and she’ll curl up there instead. In fact, she’ll very often make her own way up to my shoulder.
My present cats do not like laps too much – being in India, it’s too hot for them and us! However, we did use to have cats who liked laps and this is genuinely a thing!
We call that catalysis :) With our Pepper, he doesn’t have to be on a lap, he likes to lay next to me on the bed with either one paw on me, or his butt against my leg. Either way, I still can’t move!
None of my cats are lap kitties! I have 3 & they are all affectionate but do not like to be held. They love to sit beside you and get head rubs, body rubs, chin scratches, etc. Try to pick them up and it’s over. Can’t figure it out.
I love a good lap kitty. Though currently, my lap kitty has been displaced by a lap puppy who loves to snuggle. First puppy I’ve ever known that will go to the couch and give eyes to whoever is closest so that they will come sit with her while she naps.
All she needs to do is ask Jimbo to fetch the recipe box so she can enjoy having a cat on her lap a bit longer. The moment he responds, there’ll be a kitty launch.
the comments on today’s comic are disgusting. cats are one of God’s creatures just like dogs. if you don’t like them fine, but to want to cause them harm is inhumane and against the law.
I had told this before, when we first got our “Butterscotch”,my husband worked afternoons. The next morning when I got up for work, I noticed he hadn’t come to bed. When I asked him why, he said the kitten was sleeping on his lap and he didn’t want to disturb her. =^:^=

I call it being catted. I can’t get up, I’ve been catted.

Just pick it up by the tail, swing it around a few times, and then let go. Problem solved.

I lay on the couch, and withing a minute have 2, sometimes 3 cats sleeping on me. I use the same excuse.

COL Syndrome is and must be taken seriously. It’s immobilizing effects do come with marvelous stress-reduction, however.

I have the same problem, especially on chilly mornings.

I’ve got two on my lap right now. Sometimes I have three. On cold days like today it’s very comfortable.

If you want the best seat in the house you’ll have to move the dog/cat.

Catalaptic. Cat lovers understand the ancient Persian, who, on being called to prayer, cut off his sleeve rather than disturb his sleeping cat.
