That “thing” on the bed looks like a butcher paper wrapped something. She’s been in stir so long she brought some of its decorating scheme home. Is this place one of those converted to loft spaces for the economically disadvantaged ?
Mysta repeats to Scarmony that her memory was wiped. Is it sinking in yet? The pony farm notion is not far fetched. Mysta was good with “Sparkplug,” the horse cast in The Moon Maid film. She said she had never ridden before, yet clearly had an affinity for horses.
At the end of the day (okay, two weeks), we now have a new dilemma:
The defense of the insanity defense.
As in, if I don’t remember doing it, I must not be guilty of it.
I was “out of my mind” when I did it, so I’m not guilty.
Updated: I’m out of my mind now, so I shouldn’t be held accountable for when I did do it.
I really can’t say which side to fall on. If all you’re into is punishment, then I suppose punishment should always be meted out.
But if you’re dealing with a changed person – and wasn’t that the purpose of the punishment – to change the person – is punishment appropriate – is punishment still relevant anymore?
FWIW, it was clear to me right away that the silhouette on the bed is Scarmony. It’s a jail cell; we were told on Thursday that Mindy and Scarmony were cellmates; the huddled position indicates loneliness, therefore there is only one person in the cell, probably sitting on her own bed; the drawing/photo on the wall behind her is addressed to “SIS” with a heart, and the second-to-last panel of yesterday’s strip showed us what they looked like “back in the day”—in particular, Min had a pointed chin and a pronounced gap in her front teeth, as does the gal in the photo, who is therefore Min; and given the inscription, the photo likely hangs above the bed of “SIS”, not Min; therefore that’s Scarmony huddled on the bed, QED.
The clues are there in the artwork. All you have to do is pay attention. :-)
Now that it has been deciphered for me, I can “see” Scarmony sitting on the prison bed, knees up and arms wrapped around. But the absence of any interior detail, even just a few linear strokes, -none that I can see in this GC reproduction, at any rate- made it an illegible “sack of potatoes” for me, too, hitherto. Given that Scarmony seems to be a few beans short, the “pony farm and letters” revenge motive works well enough. But is she now going to forgive and forget? What will happen now when the MCU shows up, as it surely will by week’s end if not before?

Good morning™, cellmates!
So she stopped writing and never got to buy the pony farm. That’s what caused this whole thing!

I could like this Mysta, unfortunately she’ll revert back to her arrogant, self centered obnoxious self next Monday.

Hmm. She almost “bought the farm” just to buy a farm?

figure in the jail cell: The knees up position that was the “clue” that this Mysta was Mindy!

As an aside, doesn’t Scarmony seem quite muscular for a woman? She must have made good use of the prison’s gym!

I’m guessing they were in a minimum security prison given the space between the bars. And that they appear to be made of wood…
