With such a profound intellect and eloquent oratory skills, it doesnât seem he needs Mrs. Wormwood after all, except for solving 3 + 4, which for some reason eludes him.
Something I learned at work: Adventure is what you want when you are safe at home; safe at home is what you want when you are having an adventure. Adventures are much more fun when you are telling about them later.
Thereâs a story about a man who died. He found himself on an incredible golf course. Every hole was a hole in one. He decided to go fishing. Every throw of his line was a huge fish. Frustrated, he said to another fisherman, âI didnât expect Heaven to be this boring.â The answer was, âWho said this was Heaven?â
Iâve known a few adrenaline junkies who ran their lives on a âpeak to peakâ basis. Some of them grew up to be tolerable people, including at least one whoâs a famous photographer now⊠who does landscapes seen from some of those peaks. Some of them crashed (including a few who died). And some of them, still, at retirement age are wondering why they never achieved anything worthwhile.

I wonder if Calvin became stockbroker who cold called little old ladies.

Maybe if Calvin was a crash test dummy, heâd be off to a good start.

Calvin sounds like the stock market. There is disaster after disaster yet the market goes up.

Now would be a good time to start the up and up, Calvin.

No valleys, no peaks, Calvin. If there were no valleys to make the peaks stand out, itâd all be flat.

I must be showing my age, but dull boring routine is pretty enjoyable. Itâs predictable.

â« Iâm broke but Iâm happy, Iâm poor but Iâm kind
Iâm short but Iâm healthy, yeah
Iâm high but Iâm grounded, Iâm sane but Iâm overwhelmed
Iâm lost but Iâm hopeful, baby
What it all comes down to
Is that everythingâs gonna be fine, fine, fine
âCause Iâve got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving a high five â«

I am a very confident person. About 1/3 of my confidence comes from my successes. The other 2/3 come from my failures.
In other words, I learn twice as much from failure as I do success.

Calvin doesnât realize it, but this is a peak too. A peak in his pulse rate.

Calvin should listen to the YES album âKeys to Ascensionâ, or Stevie Wonderâs âHigher Ground.â

I tend to picture the devil standing on his head and declaring everyone else beneath him.
