Now that baseball is on hold, I’ve discovered that my wife’s idea of spending time together is cleaning out the garage. I hope that football starts on schedule.
Why would he want to go with her? She is relentlessly and needlessly cruel to him. She belittles him at every opportunity and behaves as if he were her worst enemy rather than her husband. Perhaps if she treated him with the respect he deserves he might want to spend some time with her.
Had to think about that one, didn’tcha, Earl? Here’s a good answer to that wifey=type trick question, though: “In a perfect world, darling, I’d be watching baseball with my loving wife.”
Now THAT is a guilt trip I despise. So, all of a sudden the wife wants you to go some place with her. How about if SHE wait until later herself – or go by herself… why do they need us to ‘be with them.’ Too much Donna Reed and Leave it to Beaver shows where those ideal families existed – nuts! All Earl has to answer is ‘Yes, if that’s what you want to think!"

Not going to score very many brownie points that way Earl.

Earl at first must not really want his daily necessitated 10,000 (or was it 30,000?) steps.

I’d rather do just about anything else than watch fishing.

Opal is mostly acerbic to Earl in daily life, why would he want more grief in the park with her?

It looks like Opal is dropping a hint. Earl had better pick up on it if he knows what is good for him.

There are days this “comic” strip makes me want to cry because of so many missed opportunities for kindness and togetherness.

Better think twice about that one Earl, spending time together at the knitting shop may make bowling very appealing.

Baseball used to be more interesting to watch when the games weren’t so darn long.

Panel three hurt you, Earl. Although it is a poor comeback, you needed your comeback line immediately to have any chance to salvage this situation.

Earl would rather watch grass grow, or paint dry then spend time with Opal… I don’t blame him.
