what isn’t hard work for Earl?

Remember when we used to have sex?

That’s why most wars aren’t civil. It’s too exhausting.

People just don’t realize what an effort Earl is making.

Sometimes it’s not easy to be civil!

And at his age, thoughtful is something that is a lot harder than it used to be…

It was easier when she was once young and beautiful way back when.

The Golden years takes work.!

I don’t remember Earl ever being charming.

Remember when we actually loved each other & didn’t view each other with disdain?

Remember when I was 150 lbs. ?

Earl and I are both “of an age,” although I think I’m a bit older. Be that as it may, I will say it was much easier to be civil in the days when “common courtesy” was not an oxymoron.

Boy, Opal’s first statement sure is ominous, and leaves no possible defense! So, attack back, Earl: “ I’m a heck of a lot more charming now than I’m going to be in about five seconds, after that statement.”

Funny!

I have decided that I’m only willing to be civil if you reciprocate. But I’ve also figured out that generally, “just walk away” is the simplest, least energy, most satisfying way to respond to incivility. Because if you get into an argument with someone like that, the first thing they do is drag you down to their level, and then they use their experience to beat you.
