Or price everything and leave it all out there on the honor system. With any luck, someone will steal everything, including the payment receptacle. Problem solved!!
Hey I move every thing out of the garage once a year, what I don’t need or don’t use go’s away and all the stuff my kid’s are storing there go’s back in, I can still fit one car in there kind of.
That was going to be my suggestion yesterday. What else can you do with the stuff? Where I used to live, you could stick a $50 “For Sale” sign on the stuff and guaranteed someone would steal it.
When I made my last move I had stuff that I did not want to take or could not, but I did not want to pay to haul away. Separated into three piles. First (30% of all) was freebies, second was everything was a dollar each (20%), and third the BOGO pile for a dollar (50%). Idea to convey was that it was not all garbage.
Instructions were to slide the dollar bills through the 1” opened window of the locked car in the driveway. There were about 50 items. I found $6 on the car seat when the yard was empty.
People were not stealing (as if I cared) but as items were going I would rearrange piles every so often to keep the freebie pile large. So, the work was done for me by the mentalities of the scavengers, bargain hunters, honest people who got good Karma points and the thieves who thought that they were so slick.
I was surprised at the end of the day when I got it down to a few items and just had a freebie pile. A couple driving by saw some usable folding chairs and actually knocked on the door to ask if I had intended to leave the chairs by the remaining small pile. Left me with some residual faith in human nature.
Oh . . . . Now I get it — Arlo moved all the junk in the garage out to the driveway.! I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on all week long. I didn’t realize Janis was walking across the driveway when she was picking her way through the junk. I thought she was in the garage.
While readying our house for sale, I put a number of things, including a toilet tank, out for pickup. Everything was gone before sunset. Saved me almost $100 in extra collection fees.
If it’s junk who cares what the weather does to it. Get some contractor clean-up bags and put one out each trash day until they’re gone. (You don’t want to annoy your trash collectors by putting too many out at the same time)
When we moved in there was a non-working lawn mower in the garage. Garbage would not take unless we emptied it of gas. Salvation Army would not take if it did not run. Left it in front of house with “free to take” sign and it disappeared. Have done that a couple of times since with things. Generally when we are getting rid of something – it is something that no will want anyway as it is such an odd thing.

Janis, if your mouth parts are in motion as air is passed in and out over them, we can hear you.

The way Janis talks, Arlo would be a lot more comfortable sleeping on the couch.

Take it to the landfill yourself.

It’s well known around here that logs piled at the curb are free firewood. They never last more than a day.

My garage would make a perfect man cave if it weren’t for the Audi and the Mustang parked inside.

How about putting the junk out to the street and putting your car in the garage?

My ex would have put all of it in the basement.
