Shows why they named the kid Attitude. He acts like heā€™s literally going for a chip off the old block.

Llewellenbruce, cocaine will numb your lips, gums, tongue, or probably any soft membrane you touch it to.

Cocaine was at one time used as a local anesthetic, before the invention of Novocaine.

Itā€™s still used for anesthetic. Or at least it was in the 1980s: When I was a child, I had to get an injection right in my nostril, to help me with my allergies.

Before sticking the needle in, the doctor used cotton soaked in liquid cocaine to numb my nostrils. I must say I was one VERY talkative kid when I left his appointment.

I donā€™t think itā€™s gonna cut down on the noise. Lilā€™ baby ā€˜Tude keeps it up, B.O.ā€™s gonna need an anesthetic.

    Good Morning Vista Bill.

I half expect Gertie to toss that ā€œreject flourā€ in the trash, so itā€™ll be long gone when Hot Rize brings the ā€˜replacement.ā€™

Earle sure has made a colossal mistake Those flour bags contained Peruvian flake Goodies made with that brand of snow Will give you plenty of getup and go Now Rize must rectify the error Else Gertie will need one big mirror There are those who say they know Itā€™s easy to get lumps out of your blow But 200 pounds of high yield coke Itā€™s loss about, you do not joke Hereā€™s what Gertie said about this ā€œflourā€ Mmmph mmmb mmmph mmph mmm mmph Will Junior get there before Ms. Rize And believe whatā€™s before his eyes Could it be that soon we will see others Like those Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers In this story they would fit right in To omit them would almost be a sin But this is about Gertie and her old coot And 200 pounds of high grade toot.

Hey, didnā€™t BO and Gertieā€™s house one time be under an overpass? Something keeps telling me it did. Someone help me out!

Youā€™re absolutely correct, Morrow. When they were planning that overpass through Sunny Dell Acres, the Plentys were offered a good settlement, but B. O. refused to sell, so they built the overpass right over the house. Chester Gould introduced this and even Max Collins played with the idea. Iā€™d have to do some research to see when this happened, unless there are more knowledgeable fans out there who could add some information.

In WWII the French resistance group the Maquis would mix cocaine with dried blood and spred it on trails. The Nazi K-9 troops searching for them would get a nose full of cocaine laced dried blood when tracking, and were useless for the rest of the day!!!

Probably Mike Curtis can address this. Thereā€™s a TV/movie cliche where cops test an unknown powder by tasting it as Gertie does here. She has a good reason to make that mistake. But have any real-life cops been dumb enough to do that? And for a weekday Crimestoppers spot, what should the rest of us do if we find a suspicious substance?

    NIGHT-GAUNT49 - Cā€™mon - ā€œthe Gringo?ā€ Really?

Sure, cocaine was used as a medication pretty freely until the addicitve qualities showed up.

I believe it was prescribed by doctors in the late 19th century to help opium addicts quit. You might say it had mixed results.

When I had surgery in the nasal passage between my eyes about 10 years ago, I was given a small amount to shrink the tissue way up there.

Actually I asked my local police liasions for information on touching your tongue to cocaine as often seen on cop shows and such, as well as what would happen if you made biscuits with it.

Bonnie Braids and Joseph Flintheart Tracy will returne eventually, part of the reason for their delays has been ascertaining their exact ages as various versions have been shown of each character.

Joe and I decided that Bonnieā€™s in her early 20ā€™s and Joe should be around 6, as both Bonnie and Honeymoon were in the story where Joseph was born, and we estimate Honeymoon at around 12 when she returns.

Night-Gaunt - it is the coca-leaf that has the healthy dose of cocaine, and if you are out of the US, try coca tea. The gringo refines it into a poison, then destroys the crops of coca farmers who have made a living growing coca for centuries, and are not the ones refining it into cocaine.

Plus, destroying their crops just raises the price of cocaine - which effectively recruits even more drug dealers! Same stupid mistake as in the 1929 crash - farmers were going out of business because crop prices dropped drastically as a result of the suddenly shrinking money supply, but they had fixed price mortgages. This caused a food shortage. So our oh so wise government started destroying what little food remained in a futile effort to raise crop prices - causing widespread famine. (That would have been the time to print up some money and pass it around equally.)
