Hail hail the gang’s all here ! It takes this much muscle to take down some petty thugs ? But when the stakes are more serious Dick likes to lone wolf it and thus get all the credit.
I had expected Fritz Ann to show up once kidnapping was involved (and probably across state lines, from wherever Fastrack HQ is to Tracyville), and said so. Voilà!
Maybe the presence of Dethany will distract Agent Dietrich enough to save Sam from embarrassment!
1-*DETH: You know you could just turn down the volume. You don’t have to hold it at arm’s length to avoid ear damage. Also, turning it down could greatly increase your chances of surviving a silent run.
2-DT: Huh? Never mind. Let’s roll! SAM: What? Did they find my prowl car?
3-MARLAYNA HOOVER: Hey Tracy! Look – “L” for LOSER! HA HA! YOU’RE A LOSER!
DT:Crap! The Fibbies always think they’re so much better than us regular cops. Hello, Marlayna. You’re looking good (choke, cough).
MARLAYNA: That’s because the FBI pays enough for us to buy nice clothes and cosmetics and such. I see you’re wearing that same old outfit. LOOOO-SERRR! Hi, honey. What’d they arrest you for? Impersonating the living?
DETH: I’m a…huh?
MARLAYNA: HEY TRACY! I THINK YOU ARRESTED THE VICTIM BY ACCIDENT! LOSER!!!
Gee that was quick.. if Fritz Ann is there regarding the kidnapping the FBI sure doesnt drag their feet. Seems that this whole last sequence (Since Sunday) is the next night since i doubt A) that club would be open at 4am and that B) Fritz Ann would get there before daylight.
Gotta make you wonder tho, why the FBI is interested in just a kidnapping? Usually that stuff is handled by the local authorities isnt it?
Who is this inspector Dietrich and what comic is she from? WTH, DT has suddenly become a team player rather than a lone wolf? Could be too many crooks got away, while he or an IB got shot
Maybe it’s just me but is this some kind of impromptu reunion of crime fighters? Inspector? She must be from the West coast. I mention this only because I remember the 70’s television series, “The Streets of San Francisco” where Karl Malden’s character was referred to as Inspector. Also Clint Eastwood in the first “Dirty Harry” movie. Yet Raymond Burr’s character, Robert Ironside was never referred to as Inspector. Then maybe this Inspector Dietrich could be from….nay….it couldn’t be….Scotland Yard?

A rather common name in my home town area. But each of them had the gall to spell their names differently.

Dick Tracy makes a an appearance in today’s Lio. It looks like Mark Tatulli is saying that police are racists.

(A repeat of my remark to sixam above): Actually, today’s Lio is a political comment that works on many levels.
No, not all cops are racists. Nor does this incident paint Dick Tracy as a racist.
Let’s not forget the Central Park dog walker vs. the Central Park bird watcher. (As in, sometimes cops are “set up”)
Remembering the two week delay for most comics, it’s pretty clear that this is Tatulli’s homage to John Lewis, and a darned good one at that!
Hat’s off to Mark Tatulli!
